Bert and Krista Jonkers

About The Teacher

As we have always worked together, this introduction will be about me and my wife (2nd picture). We are Bert (1946) and Krista (1959) Jonkers. We have been active as counselors, teachers and supervisors personal growth for over 35 years. We have mentored countless people on their life journey, have taught and supervised therapists and coaches. We have always worked on our own growth, done courses and studies, but our most important ‘school’ has always been our own life. We made experiences out of our successes and adversity, taken our choices from a constantly new perspective and developed into Buddhist spiritual leaders. Krista is on a sabbatical and no longer takes an active role in the groups and retreats (except with some activities for children) but focusses on organization. Bert doesn't speak english very well but during the lectures and personal meetings it's possible that Egbert or Tessel translates.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
