About The Teacher

Jenny Tumas has been teaching yoga since 2001 when she completed her first teacher training at the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara. She offers students practices which blend traditional yoga forms, and the grace and power that flows through them, with contemporary forms based on current and evolving understandings of biomechanics and what’s best for real, individual bodies. Her classes blend elements of Ashtanga, smart Vinyasa, and Restorative Yoga—all with a focus on the breath and making yoga accessible to all. Registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT at the 500-hour level and as a YACEP (provider of continuing education), she has led several yoga teacher trainings and has owned her studio, Marigold Yoga, for almost ten years. She was certified by Judith Lasater as a Restorative Yoga trainer in 2003. Jenny’s classes are informed by her studies of Sanskrit, the language of yoga. She leads weekend Sanskrit 1 and 2 Immersions for the American Sanskrit Institute. Jenny is grateful to the many teachers she had the good fortune to study with, including Sarah Powers, Michael Stone, and Zoe Mai. Her aim for her students is that they leave classes feeling “Sattvic”— calm, clear, and grounded—and empowered to seek their own path.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

Because I sometimes work up to 16 hours a day, and need time to stop and breathe. Mary
