Mission & Vision

As part of an international community, Dorje Denma Ling’s mission is cradled within Shambhala Vision. This vision is rooted in the principle that our fundamental nature as human beings is awake and basically good, and that this nature can be developed in daily life so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.

DORJE DENMA LING MISSION STATEMENT
Dorje Denma Ling is a Buddhist retreat centre that provides an environment for individuals and groups to practice meditation and contemplative disciplines to discover their inherent wisdom. People who come to Dorje Denma Ling aspire to live and work in a society that is based on compassion, sustainability, and kindness toward the earth and all sentient beings.

Dorje Denma Ling sits high on a hill overlooking the Northumberland Strait, surrounded by forest and a big sky above. There are 4 meditation halls of various sizes, a simple but comfortable lodge for guests who prefer to be indoors; cabins and tents for those who prefer to camp. The main building houses the Dragon shrine room, a commercial kitchen and dining room. Lovely stained glass art and exquisite Tibetan tankas create an atmosphere of sacredness in this otherwise simple retreat centre.
