Overlooking spectacular Kootenay Lake, the Lodge, with its massive windows and expansive deck affords breathtaking lake & mountain views. The Maloca, a magnificent round, timbered ceremonial and activity space, seems to float above the lake. A short stroll from the Lodge, the Sentinel's spa deck, with its unique wood-fired sauna and cedar-lined hot tub is a favourite gathering spot for guests, year-'round. 700' of lakefront, with deck, firepit and yoga area is a tranquil spring/summer area. Getting Here

Location icon The Sentinel, Kaslo, British Columbia, Canada

Directions

We are a 50-minute drive north of Nelson, BC, just outside the charming village of Kaslo. We are 9 hours by car from Vancouver, and 8 hours from Calgary. These drives are incredibly beautiful, wending through some of North America's most spectacular mountain terrain. There are flights (approx. 1 hour) from both Vancouver & Calgary to our nearest airport, in Castlegar, which is a scenic 1.5 hours from our door. Driving from Nelson, follow highway 3A north to Balfour (Kootenay Lake ferry landing), and proceed another 20-25 minutes on Highway 31 north. There is a "Sentinel Retreat" blue road sign on the highway (approx. 60 km from Nelson). Slow down and prepare to take a sharp right turn onto Amundsen Road. The Sentinel is located at bottom of the hill. Please observe signs. Read More

Amazing experience
Staying at The Sentinel was a great experience. The staff was more then amazing and welcoming and made you feel like you were right at home. The retreat schedule was well thought out and gave us lots of down time to do our thing. The cedar hottub/sauna were 10/10 and so happy to have that during our downtime. I will be back again and will recommend The Sentinel to anyone! Read More

Remember who you are
In a world full of commitments, obligations and countless other distractions which devour our energy and occupy our attention, the Sentinel serves as a bright shining light which helps us navigate our way back to who we truly are. Whether it is the land on which it sits, the incredible vistas that can be appreciated there, the world class food, the genuine warmth of the people who work there or the countless workshops and ceremonies that are held in sacred space. The Sentinel has a way of helping everyone who walks through its doors rediscover the true essence of who they are and feel a deep and divine connectedness to something that cannot be explained by words. It is a place of healing, truth, exquisite beauty and magic. It is a bright shining light which cuts through the fog of our modern day lives to show us who we truly are and why we are here.❤️ Read More

The most beautiful place in British Columbia
This was a dream property - the food, the landscape, the staff. We were very much well taken care of and were able to step away from life for a bit.

Would recommend the Sentinel to anyone looking for one of their many well organized and life changing retreats or for a stay to step away and relax amongst an exceptionally beautiful part of the world. Read More

Earthly medicine in a luxury environment
I just finished a beautiful ceremony at The Sentinel. I had done several ceremonies of this type in Costa Rica at venues that were far more earthly. So partaking, in a ceremony in such a beautiful space with a modicum of the modern luxuries Westerners are used to was a different experience.

The end result was far better than I was expecting. It’s hard for me to recommend The Sentinel high enough along with profoundly healing the ceremonies that are performed there. Read More

Warm, Grounding, Expansive Luxury!
This space is held by the land and you can feel that every nook, cranny, gathering, grounding, rest, community and sacred space has been devotionally created to host people in their expansion.

First, the staff are outstanding. Hands down the warmest hospitality and attention to our needs.

The shared rooms were luxurious with private on-suites, soft linens, stocked bathroom, blackout curtains, and gorgeous views.

The gathering house and meals were delicious and cosy. Perfect for deep conversations and delicious healthy meals in soft and inviting spaces.

The Maloca overlooking the lake was spectacular! What a sacred space for ceremony, integration, yoga, stretching, breathwork...and my fav: dancing! :)

The amenities were also outstanding: hot tub, dock, waterfront, green space, hammocks, viewpoints, sauna, cold plunge....nothing was forgotten (including dairy-free latte machine- yum!)

Cannot wait to come back and experience this gorgeous property! Read More
