The Centre for Alternative technology is ideally situated right in the heart of Mid Wales, just two hours by train from Birmingham International Airport (BHX) and Train Station.
CAT is easy to get to via public transport. Machynlleth is on the Birmingham to Aberystwyth train line, and from there regular buses will bring you within a short walk of CAT.
Mission & Vision
Our work as a charity and practice community is an aspiration to cultivate genuine wellbeing—eudaemonic happiness—and to assist others in that journey. Our approach includes organising educational events and creating digital resources centred around contemplative life, guided by Buddhist teachings. Three pillars guide our activities: exploring contemplative traditions, deepening our practice and understanding, and applying and integrating practice into daily life.
