The Top of the Mountain Hotel Gschösswandhaus is located in a breathtaking location on 1800 hm overviewing the valley and mountains around. Most of you will get there by cable car which is already a great experience. Chris’s great grandfather built it up and the generations after developed it beautifully, so it has the typical Austrian Style, with lots of cozy wood and at the same time the rooms have with beautiful views.

Directions

You are responsible for your own journey. The Zillertal is about an hour from Innsbruck and two hours from Munich. The best way to reach the Gschösswandhaus is by taking the Penkenbahn cable car from Mayrhofen up to the Penken. Please note that there are no parking spaces available directly at the Penkenbahn. ATTENTION: The last ascent is at 4.20 pm, so plan enough time to catch the gondola.

If you prefer to drive up directly by car, you have to drive via Finkenberg and leave a few narrow serpentines behind you. ATTENTION: Please contact the team beforehand, as the private road becomes a single-lane gravel road from Astegg and there is a barrier there.

If you are traveling by train, your destination is Jenbach station, from where you can take the Zillertalbahn to Mayrhofen and board the Penkenbahn there.

The nearest airport is Innsbruck (INN) at a distance of 70 kilometers, a little further away are Graz (GRZ) and Munich (MUC).
