John Shephard is a retired psychotherapist, a ULC minister, a published author, a musician, composer and astrologer. His book Cottage Lake Soliloquy is guide to spiritual enlightenment in the form of a novel. His meditation CD, Into the Blue, uses original music, guided imagery and sounds of nature.
Details of this retreat
This is our standard on-going event that anyone can attend at anytime for as long as they wish to stay. People usually come alone but they also sometimes come as a couple. That is all we take: a single individual or a couple. There is only one bedroom in the five-room suite, though we can set up a single bed in the study if threy do not want to share the queen-sized bed
Schedule
A typical day includes three sessions of different kinds of meditation, breakfast, and options for a Day of Silence, yoga session, massage, life coaching or horoscope interpretation.

Directions
Take 405 freeway south to the Woodinville exit. We are 3 miles from town, right on Cottage Lake. A car is the best way to get around.
Accommodation
The Lakeside Bedrom Suite is five rooms; bedroom, living room, snack room and office with views of the lake plus a full guest bathroom. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed, a Keurig coffee maker, soft robes, slippers, games, fans and an electronic massage cushion. The living room has a private entrance with the hot tub right outside the door. It has a couch and chushy chair, dining table and chairs, cable tv, WiFi, music and DVD players, CDs, DVDs, games, a ukulele and a book library. The office has a large desk and office supplies. The Snack room has a minifridge, granola bars, nuts, chocolate and water. The bathroom has a tub/shower unit with toiletries and a hair dryer. We have lived here since 1978 and are pleased to welcome you to what is for us a magical spot. We hope your stay here is as conducive to your peace and enjoyment as it is for us.

The Lakeside Bedroom Suite overlooks the water from the midpoint of the shoreline, giving a broad vista of the lake and surrounding area. It is situated in the heart of Woodinville wine country in a quiet neighborhood on a dead-end street. Facing east, it offers a clear view of the sunrise, weather permitting. Eagles from a nearby nest soar frequently over the water, which is filled with waterfowl, otters, beavers and trout. Deer occasionally wander into the yard.

A Continental Breakfast of warm croissants and jams, two fruits, granola, milk, two yogurts, hard-boiled eggs, orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate and tea is included in your stay. Alternatives are provided for guests on gluten-free or lactose-intolerant diets.
