Details of this retreat
The Winter Solstice marks a time where the darkness reaches its peak. It invites us to turn inward for deep reflection, introspection, and alignment with the natural rhythms of life. The word solstice derives from the Latin etymology sol (Sun) + sistere (standing still) when the Sun appears to halt in the sky for three days before resuming its usual forward progress. This sacred pause offers an opportunity to replenish our energy, nurture our hearts, deeply listen, and restore balance to body, mind, and spirit.
In yoga, we call it Shuniya, the art of listening, that space of deep silence beyond thought and sensation. It is a vast state of consciousness where everything falls away except for awareness itself. In this dimension, there is no “me” and no “you.” Here, we feel our intrinsic oneness with all of life and start to understand the subtle ways we affect each other as one consciousness.
In this stillness, combined with the potent energy of the land, and a new dark moon (12/20), we will quiet the mind, cultivate peace, and reinspire our spirits.
