Retreat Highlights

  • Self-compassion in practice. ESSENCIA builds understanding of compassion and self-compassion as a lived orientation — relating to yourself with patience, wisdom, understanding, and kindness, especially when you’d normally tighten into self-criticism.
  • Evidence-informed and expertly held. Curated by Associate Professor Dr Amy Finlay-Jones, the retreat is paced with care — grounded in established compassion-based approaches, with an emphasis on safety, simplicity, and genuine restoration.
  • Embodied practices. Meditation, gentle movement, breath, and somatic practice help the work land in the body — so steadiness and kindness become something you can access in real time, not just think about.
  • Creativity as a contemplative path. Guided sessions with local artists (clay, floral, and other tactile practices) invite presence through the hands — less about producing, more about listening, noticing, and making space for what’s true.
  • Place is part of the teaching. Held at Son Rullan in the Serra de Tramuntana, the landscape sets the tone: terraced stone, mountain light, rosemary on the wind — a quiet invitation to slow down and let your senses widen.
  • A spacious rhythm (so it can land). Quiet mornings, focused late-morning sessions, long afternoons for rest, wandering the estate, swimming, or simply being — and unhurried evenings that feel like exhale.
  • Designed to travel home with you. Time for reflection and integration, with practices and written materials that translate insight into simple rhythms you can keep — in work, creativity, and everyday life.
  • Restorative by design. Beautiful, calm accommodation and shared meals that feel like a soft landing — with the sense that where you stay is part of the medicine of the retreat.

Details of this retreat

ESSENCIA is a four-night immersion shaped around contemplation, the natural world, and the quiet delight of making with your hands.

Set at Son Rullan in the Serra de Tramuntana, ESSENCIA draws you into a subtle conversation with the landscape: terraced stone warmed by sun, wild rosemary stirred by the wind, the slow fall of light down the mountainside. The rhythm of the place invites a gentler tempo — one where your senses widen and your inner life finds room to breathe.

Each morning begins with meditation, movement, writing, and poetry — practices that gather you back to yourself. They create an inner clearing: a return to awareness that is spacious rather than effortful, rooted rather than striving.

Woven through the retreat is an orientation to compassion — including self-compassion: the practice of relating to yourself with patience, wisdom, understanding, and kindness, especially in the moments you’d normally tighten into self-criticism, so you can meet challenge with steadiness rather than shame.

From this ground of presence, the day opens into creative sessions with local artists — ceramicists, floral designers, and interdisciplinary makers whose work rises directly from the island’s textures and stories. Clay responds to the warmth of your hands; colour shifts with the afternoon light; a single stem becomes a study in form and instinct. Creativity here is less about producing and more about listening.

ESSENCIA is for the woman who senses a spark she hasn’t tended in some time — who longs for spaciousness, for beauty, for the distinct feeling of being quietly restored to herself. She knows her inner life needs more than insight; it needs wonder, and time, and a slower kind of noticing.

Each day reveals a different facet of contemplative and creative practice. Between sessions, there is generous time to wander the estate, rest in the shade, linger over meals, or let the day unfold in its own rhythm.

This is ESSENCIA: an immersion in contemplation, creative practice, movement, poetry, and rest — a return to loving contact with yourself, and the life that’s waiting underneath the rush.
