About this Retreat
Maja is the founder of the Sensit Yoga™ Somatics system, with over 20 years of experience teaching yoga, meditation, and embodied awareness practices. Based in Vienna, Austria, she is currently a psychotherapist in specialized training under clinical supervision, integrating her clinical education with her extensive background in somatic work.
Her approach is rooted in the understanding that healing emerges through the dynamic relationship between body and mind. Sensit Yoga Somatics is a mindful, interoceptive practice that cultivates awareness across physical, emotional, and psychological layers of experience. Rather than focusing on form alone, the practice invites participants to sense, feel, and respond from within—supporting deeper self-regulation and integration.
Maja’s work weaves together yoga asana with principles from somatic disciplines such as Body-Mind Centering®, the Feldenkrais Method®, and Continuum Movement®. It also incorporates natural and functional movement, tension release, and space for spontaneous, intuitive expression. This integrative approach allows each individual to access their own embodied intelligence, supporting both physical vitality and emotional resilience.
Her university studies include:
- Master’s degree in Psychotherapy (in progress) Sigmund Freud University, Vienna
- Bachelor degree in Psychotherapy Science at Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, Austria
- Bachelor degree in Economics at the Greek National University of Athens,
- Bachelor (Honours) degree in Social Sciences at the Open University of UK
- Master degree in Political Science at the Greek National University of Athens, on conflict transformation in the Balkans by non-violent means and grass-root peacebuilding
Details of this retreat
Mind of the Body™ / Sensit Yoga Somatics retreats are a week-long invitation to come home to the body — gentle, grounded, and guided by Maja Zilih,
- systemic family psychotherapist in specialised training under clinical supervision and
- founder of Sensit Yoga™ Somatics,
with over 20 years of yoga and somatics teaching experience.
The practice is slow, interoceptive, and attentive — drawing from Feldenkrais, Body-Mind Centering, and Continuum movement, and weaving together mindful yoga with psycho-emotional self-care: nervous-system regulation, self-compassion, and resilience-building.
Through breath awareness, guided reflection, journaling, and listening to different inner parts, we explore how emotional experience is held and expressed through the body.
For twelve consecutive years, the retreat has returned to the same magical place on the southern edge of Crete: Agios Pavlos, with its 180° view of the Libyan Sea, untouched beaches, and the quiet rhythm of the coast.
An invitation to move while listening deeply to the subtle intertwining of sensation, thought, breath, and the impulse for movement — to discover what becomes possible in the meeting places between physical awareness and mental acceptance.
This retreat is designed for people who want to rest, breathe, and move in a way that feels natural — without pressure, performance, or intensity. People who seek to connect with their embodied intelligence and to reset — physically and mentally.
Gentle, intelligent movement rather than demanding exercise
Deep relaxation and space to unwind
A quiet, natural setting by the sea
Unique atmosphere (mesmeriszing landscapes, no crowds, no noise)
A thoughtful, grounded approach to body awareness .
The work is calm and subtle, but often surprisingly effective: many participants notice better sleep, less physical tension, and a clearer, quieter mind.
Through slow, attentive movement we listen to the body's quiet intelligence — to the interplay of sensation, thought, and breath. In the meeting places between physical awareness and mental acceptance, emotions, habits, and patterns begin to reveal what they are really telling us.
