Restoring Your Light: A Holistic Healing Retreat for Widows of Suicide Loss

Five days on the Nayarit coast, near Punta Mita, Mexico, for women who have lost a husband or partner to suicide. January 19 to 23, 2027, at Casa Amigos, a gated coastal home with private rooms, a pool, and shared meals at one table.

The retreat is built for a small group of up to eight women. Each day moves at an unhurried pace and blends sunrise yoga and guided meditation, breathwork, small-group sessions with other suicide loss survivors, and surf lessons with a local instructor (or a seat on the sand if you’d rather watch). The week also includes a 60-minute massage, a private boat ceremony to honor those we’ve lost, a traditional temazcal ceremony, a one-on-one coaching session on building a new life plan after loss, and a closing beach bonfire.

Meals are prepared by our chef using organic, locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast is light, snacks are available throughout the day, dinners are served family style, and lunches are taken on the beach or at the house. The retreat is alcohol-free.

Our retreats are holistic experiences designed to complement traditional therapeutic care, not replace it. Please keep your existing therapist, grief counselor, or physician informed of your plans.

Investment: $2,550 per guest, with a $500 deposit to secure your space and the balance due 60 days before the retreat. Airfare and travel insurance are the guest’s responsibility.

Founded by suicide widow Andi Zemenick, The Light Within has offered healing retreats for suicide loss survivors since 2024. Guests also join our Soul Sister community, a circle of women who stay connected long after the retreat ends.

Casa Amigos rests on the Nayarit coast near Punta Mita, behind a gated entrance that keeps the day’s noise at a distance. Inside, the home feels like a private resort: generous rooms, quiet shaded spaces for rest, and an easy flow between the pool, the gathering areas, and the ocean beyond. Everything here is designed so you can be fully private when you need to be, and fully held when you want company.

Meals are where the group comes together. Our chef prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we eat at a shared table, where conversations begin over coffee and often continue long after the plates are cleared. Many women tell us the shared meals become the place where the sisterhood is present and rooted.

Between gatherings, you can retreat to your own room, lounge in a garden hammock, read by the pool, or walk down to the beach.
