Details of this retreat

Dieting Master Plants is a traditional Amazonian process of deep healing, growing and learning on all levels - physical, mental, energetic and spiritual. Traditional shamanic dieting with tobacco and a master teacher plant is a process that connects the person with the spirit of the plant and one acquires the plant's teachings and healings, reconnecting the person with the spiritual world. The dieta is a very personal spiritual process, a process of purification and liberation that leads the individual to remember where they came from. It helps one open to find the strength within to face challenges in life with greater ease and understanding to reach a natural state of union with themselves and nature.

We will be working with Amazonian tobacco and medicinal trees which contain medicine, wisdom, guidance and protection, they are here to help us. It is by dieting these plants that their medicine, wisdom, guidance and protections are transmitted to you which contains information about one self, about life, about nature, about our Creator, about how to be human, about this world to help one understand things of the mind and to heal...they are also masters of patience and will help you learn patience and quieting the mind.

This is a traditional Amazonian dieta of 7 days/7 nights consuming the plants daily. Depending on the individual, diets will be done solely with tobacco, with tobacco and a tree or solely a tree. Initial consult via telephone or email will take place along with diagnosis on the day of arrival to determine your medicine.

In the process of dieting master plants under a curandera, one heals oneself. And by healing oneself, your thoughts start changing, your mind starts changing, your spirit and body start changing and your knowledge starts growing.

Diets held by Terri Newman, traditionally-trained tabaquera-curandera (plant medicine healer).

As a tabaquera-curandera, I not only works with the tobacco plant, but various other medicinal plants that all work with tobacco whether one has tobacco in their medicinal preparation or not. Other medicinal plants may be prescribed for different situations, which will be discussed in the diagnosis. Diets are 7 days/7 nights ingesting the plants daily and consuming food that contains no salt, sugars or oils. A diet with Amazonian Tobacco (Nicotiana Rustica) and/or any of the medicinal plants are liquid preparations that are ingested. Smoking is not required.

Directions

Tarapoto is a beautiful city located between Lima and Iquitos, the high jungle of The Amazon Rainforest. It's known for the many jungle waterfalls in its surrounding areas, including Ahuashiyacu, Huacamaíllo and Shapaja. Southeast of the city, the clear waters of Lindo Lake and the larger Sauce Lagoon (also called Blue Lagoon) are surrounded by dense green forests teeming with birdlife. If you have the time, come early or stay later to experience the wonders of Tarapoto. Flights run all day from Lima to Tarapoto, about an hour flight. (You may find it less expensive to book your Lima - Tarapoto flight direct with the national airlines: Latam, Star Peru or Sky Airline.) Transport from the airport to Tambo Ilusión will be organized for you, the cost is about 20 soles (around $5.50). It will be good to have some Peruvian Soles on hand to pay for cash items, like the taxi. The rate is around S/3.7 Peruvian soles per $1 U.S. dollar. There is a currency exchange station at Lima airport if you have the time between flights. If not, we will work it out when you arrive.
