Details of this retreat

Who are we beneath the roles, expectations, and identities we accumulate throughout life? Drawing on the wisdom of Fr. Thomas Merton and Fr. Thomas Keating, this retreat explores the transformative framework of the True Self and the False Self, a profound lens for understanding the human condition and our spiritual journey.

Over time, we develop protective patterns, assumptions, and masks that shape our sense of self. These form what Keating calls the False Self system, an ego-driven identity that can obscure our deepest truth. As we gradually loosen our attachment to this illusory persona, our authentic identity in God emerges with greater clarity, freedom, and peace.

Together, we will explore Fr. Thomas Keating's writings and teachings, discovering how they illuminate the path from the False Self to the True Self. Through reflection and discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of this spiritual paradigm and the freedom that comes from recognizing and living from their True Self.

This silent weekend retreat will include periods of Centering Prayer, personal reflection, and the celebration of the Eucharist.

BioSpiritual Focusing Retreat 8/26
I received so many gifts of new knowledge and experiences from all 4 instructors and many participants. As always I enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces, especially the labyrinth. I truly appreciate the space that was freely available in the chapel, carriage house and friendship hall for myself and others to offer optional groups.
