About this Retreat
Connie Bartelson has many varied experiences as a facilitator of Prayer Shawl knitting groups throughout Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire since 2010. Besides being the coordinator of the Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. John’s Church in Worcester, MA, she oversees the hat, scarf, and mitten drive for the homeless at St. Francis Food for the Poor Center.
She is a retired high school math teacher, mother of 3, and grandmother of 6.
Connie has made hundreds of these pocket-sized prayer holders with her Prayer Shawl Ministry at her parish.
She keeps a few on hand, and whether it's a fussy toddler with her mother in the grocery store or a grandmother who can provide this small comfort to her grandson after a turbulent day at school, Connie is always happy to share this tiny piece of ministry with those in the community as a soft reminder of presence & love.

During each session, participants will gather in a relaxed and inclusive environment to knit and crochet prayerfully while sharing stories and patterns, learning, & laughing. The program is designed around a central theme and is open to individuals of all skill levels, including those interested in learning more about bringing a Prayer Shawl Ministry to their own communities.

Biospiritual Focusing retreat at Genesis
I recently attended a five day Biospiritual Focusing retreat at Genesis. The program was excellent. The coordinators experience and wisdom were extremely helpful. I also appreciated their caring and responsiveness to anything I needed.
The staff at the retreat house created a caring, welcoming environment in every way. The food was excellent, and much appreciated. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. It was a very positive experience, and am looking forward to my next retreat there.

BioSpiritual Focusing Retreat 8/26
I received so many gifts of new knowledge and experiences from all 4 instructors and many participants. As always I enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces, especially the labyrinth. I truly appreciate the space that was freely available in the chapel, carriage house and friendship hall for myself and others to offer optional groups.

It was a wonderful evening. Not only was the food delicious, but the teamwork of the staff was admirable and the camaraderie of the guests made for an enjoyable evening. The ambiance was elegant!
