Sand, Symbol, and Labyrinth

Sand, Symbol and the Labyrinth is an immersive retreat weaving together the reflective practice of sandtray exploration with the embodied meditation of the labyrinth.

Sandtray is a contemplative spiritual practice that invites the soul to speak through symbols. Rooted in depth psychology the images chosen often reveal the unseen landscapes of your inner life. What cannot yet be spoken may be shaped. What feels scattered may find form. What feels hidden may gently come into the light.

Using a simple tray of sand and a collection of meaningful miniatures—figures from nature, sacred imagery, human forms, thresholds, vessels, animals, and archetypal symbols—you are invited to create scenes that reflect your emotional truths, spiritual longings, and personal stories.  With compassionate guidance and reflection, the sand becomes a sacred container, a doorway to insight and integration, holding grief, transformation, joy, questions, and renewal.

We’ll integrate insights from our sandtray as we walk the labyrinth—an ancient archetypal path found in cultures around the world.  Unlike a maze, the labyrinth offers a single winding path inward and outward, mirroring a journey of releasing, receiving and returning. Walking the labyrinth becomes a moving meditation, a practice of listening with the body and heart.

Together, Sand, Symbol, and the Labyrinth can create a powerful dialogue.

This retreat is open to anyone longing for spaciousness and meaningful reflection. No prior experience with sandtray or labyrinth walking is required. Hand-held labyrinths are available for anyone with mobility constraints.

This retreat also serves as a Qualifying Workshop for anyone wishing to attend a Veriditas Labyrinth Facilitator Training, either online or in person. However, this is not required to attend. All are welcome.
