Carol LaRue returns to the nurturing energy of The Forest to facilitate this immersive weekend experience- inviting you to pause, reconnect, and realign with the expression of your deepest and most radiant self.

This retreat welcomes anyone of any age or stage of life seeking renewal, clarity, and inspiration.  Whether you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the discord of these unprecedented times, longing for a fresh perspective, or simply wishing to treat yourself to a weekend of self-care, you’ll find a supportive community and transformative tools to carry forward.

Through a blend of guided mindfulness practices, gentle movement, reflective teachings, self- discovery practices, and meaningful connection, you’ll clear away the accumulated clutter of daily life and open the door to the truest expression of your SELF.

Our process will include awareness and engagement in:

Presence: Cultivate mindful awareness through mindful movement, embodiment, meditation, and immersion in nature. Learn to ground yourself in the present moment and rediscover inner calm.
Power: Engage in empowering group sessions, personal reflection, and creative activities that strengthen your intuition and self-trust. Reclaim your authentic power by releasing limiting beliefs and embracing self-compassion.
Purpose: Dive deep into exercises and conversations that help you clarify your intentions for the year ahead. Connect with your soul’s desires and map out actionable steps toward a more effortless and purpose-filled life.

Entering the Forest is a peaceful experience and you'll have the opportunity to meditate in a beautiful Meditation Chapel with large windows looking out into the woods. Other meditation areas include a traditional Zen Garden, a woodland labyrinth for walking meditation, and an underground meditation chamber (the Cave of the Mothers) with wonderful acoustics for chanting.

Our retreat center also has a trail system along wooded bluffs with views of Shell Lake and downtown Tulsa. You can rent a cabin to experience the peaceful setting overnight for your own personal retreat. Our rental rates include three meals a day in our dining room, where you'll eat alongside other guests and residents of our community. The Forest also offers a full range of programs and retreats on meditation and spiritual topics.

You have a range of options to experience meditation in a way that suits you. You might choose to join our resident community for meditation held Tuesday through Saturday at 7:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, or 4:45 p.m., and on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in our Meditation Chapel. Here you'll experience a meditation of 25 to 45 minutes with others who can help guide you.

Or, you may wish to simply rake the Zen Garden as you contemplate the prayer flags in the trees overhead. If you prefer to move while meditating, walking the labyrinth or hiking the trails will give you a chance to reconnect with nature. The Cave of the Mothers provides you with a dark, quiet place where you will be amazed by the sound of your chanting reverberating all around you.

I cherish this time of peace.
Attended the Saturday morning meditation session sponsored by Tulsa Zen Sangha in December and January. It is such a beautiful and still setting. Meditating with like-minded people in a comfortable and welcoming space is a gift, and as a special bonus, lunch is always delicious. Take drive, it’s not too far. Walk in the woods, walk the labyrinth, stay in a cabin a couple of nights or attend one of their events. Enjoy this wonderful place.

Peaceful Place
Enjoyed a peaceful personal retreat with my girlfriends in January. Beautiful time of year to visit for winter contemplation and meditation. Lovely hosts! David led a poignant meditation, and the volunteers are all so kind and knowledgeable. Vast library for anyone and everyone.

Great weekend
I recently spent my first weekend at the Forest and was blown away by the hospitality, food, meditation offerings, and general comfort of the entire weekend. You can’t beat it for the price if you want to get away from it all, unplug, and recharge with wonderful volunteers- or by yourself! - for a couple of days. Will be back.

Oh and the beds were comfy, too!

Winter Solstice
The grounds were beautiful. The meditations, poetry reflections on nature in winter, and the sound bath were great. The vegan chili and cornbread were delicious; oh and the cookie bars too! Communing with the other participants was amazing. David’s calm and inviting nature helps guide a relaxing day of self care. Just what I needed!
