Details of this retreat

At our P.A.U.S.E. retreat, we gather to rest, explore Christian Contemplative Prayer, and set our intention on being present together in God’s omnipresence. While conversing with God in prayer is vital, contemplative rest in His presence is equally important for fostering an intimate connection with Him. Within this Christian discipline are elements of spiritual formation, soul care, holistic healing, deepening faith, and knowing God: “...Be still, and know that I am God...” (Psalm 46:10).

During our retreat, we pause from the busyness of life, releasing distractions to gain a deeper understanding of resting silently in God’s presence and receiving rest and refreshment for our souls. While there will be time for silent prayer, the retreat as such will not be focused on silence, but rather a time for learning, fellowship, and a holistic, nourishing P.A.U.S.E: Prayer and Understanding Silent Experiences.

A P.A.U.S.E. retreat offers time for:

learning about Christian Contemplative Prayer and its relation to both holistic well-being, and embodiment (body, mind, and spirit).
deepening our understanding of the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of spending time with God not only in verbal prayer, but also in the stillness and silence.
pausing from life’s busyness and resting with God in the silence because He is already present and waiting there.

~Be blessed and strengthened in the stillness of God’s presence~

(Isaiah 30:15; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, NIV)

Towels and linens are provided, but please bring your own toiletries. Bathrooms are shared and showers are available. Retreatants are welcome to join the Sisters for Mass, Praise, and meals. Plenty of walking trails wind around the Priory's property and are open to retreatants. Spiritual Direction is available upon request at an additional charge.

Just what I needed.
I am an introvert who really needs her alone time. I need to know that I can spend a day or 2 alone with God, to better know Him and myself. Staying at St. Placid Priory Spirituality Center gave me that opportunity. They thought of everything to make sure retreatants have all they need to have a comfortable stay. The room was perfect for me. The grounds are beautiful and the quiet was a gift. The people who gave me a tour were very friendly and made me feel very welcomed. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend.

Sublime peace and quiet
I participated in a weekend silent centering prayer retreat. It was a truly restful and nourishing time. There was just the right amount of input and guidance from our leader. The atmosphere at the Priory is wonderfully serene and welcoming. The food was fabulous!

Walking in Beauty
A beautiful weekend of living the way of beauty - or Hözhö, in the Navajo language. I did not expect to be going outside at 5:15am to greet the dawn and it was a wonderful experience. I found myself challenged to live in a different way. Being at St Placid is restful, peaceful, and yet pushes me to new places. Thank you to our retreat leader, Nancy Joan Brighid nee Muire.
