Details of this retreat

Step into a world of serene beauty and profound tranquility as you join Julie and Sara for a 7-night escape to the magical Osa Peninsula. Here, in one of Earth’s most vibrant and untouched regions, you will find the space to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in a restorative journey of healing and self-
discovery.
An Unhurried Journey into Peace: In this sanctuary of untouched beauty, time slows and space expands. The rhythmic waves of the Pacific lull you into ease, while the jungle hums with life, inviting you to pause. Whether you’re walking barefoot along the shore, gently swaying in a hammock, or watching scarlet macaws soar overhead, every moment is an opportunity to soften, to exhale, and to simply be.
Your Haven: Nestled between the emerald rainforest and the deep blue Pacific, Nereus Retreat Center is a sanctuary for renewal. Follow your private winding path that leads you to a secluded beach, where the symphony of howler monkeys and ocean breezes welcome you home. Here, embraced by nature’s quiet rhythm, you’ll find space for deep rest, reflection, and restoration.
Included in your retreat:
• Twice-Daily Yoga (90-minute sessions, accessible for all bodies): Start your day with energizing flows and unwind in the evening with restorative yin or slow flow. Each practice is thoughtfully sequenced to support healing and relaxation.
• Yoga Nidra: Julie will guide you through profound sessions of Yoga Nidra, helping you access deep states of relaxation and self-awareness. This practice helps reduce stress, anxiety, and improve sleep and mental clarity.
• Sound Baths: Sara’s sound bath sessions are a highlight of the retreat, using healing frequencies to deeply relax and rejuvenate your body and mind.
• Daily Dharma Talks: The Panchamaya Kosha System Journey through the five energetic sheaths that shape our being. Each day, deepen your understanding and practice as we unfold this ancient wisdom, guiding you toward greater harmony and self-awareness.
• Corcovado National Park: Corcovado National Park is a wild, untamed paradise—home to 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity, where scarlet macaws soar, howler monkeys call through the jungle, and tapirs and anteaters roam freely. Dubbed the most biologically intense place on Earth, it’s a rare chance to step into nature’s raw, breathtaking power. Trek through lush rainforest, spot exotic wildlife at every turn, and experience one of the last truly wild places on the planet!
• Three Nourishing Meals Daily: The heart of this retreat is nourishment— not just for the body, but for the spirit. With every meal thoughtfully prepared using fresh, seasonal ingredients, you will savor the bounty of Costa Rica. Ayurvedic-inspired dishes will support your yoga practice and promote holistic wellness, leaving you feeling vibrant and whole.
• Food as Medicine Workshop: Join Jen Millar, Functional Medicine Expert and Ayurvedic Practitioner, to learn how diet is integral to supporting health, preventing disease, and nurturing your body. You’ll gain insights into how to incorporate vibrant, nutrient-rich foods into your life, along with a cooking demonstration and simple, flavorful recipes to bring home.
• Onsite Amenities: Relax by the saltwater pool, take a stroll on our private pathway that leads you through the jungle, onto the beach, and soak in breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Optional Add-ons (additional cost can be arranged by retreat center)

Horseback Riding on the Beach: Ride along the coast, taking in the beauty
of the ocean and the surrounding jungle.

Getting Here

Location icon Nereus Retreats, Playa Platanares conocida como Playa Preciosa a 4 kmts del aeropuerto de Puerto Jimenez, Puntarenas Province, Puerto Jiménez, 60702, Costa Rica

Directions

By air…

Sansa Airlines
www.flysansa.com for details and to make a reservation.

Once you check in at the Domestic Terminal for Juan Santa María airport (SJO), within two hours you could be standing on our beach. Sansa is the principal national airline, flying to 13 locations in Costa Rica. They operate Cessna Caravan airplanes with capacity up to fifteen passengers.

The flight to Puerto Jiménez (PJM) is only 40 minutes long and will take you over the mountains in the central valley and along the Pacific coast, cruising over the “Whale’s Tail” near Uvita, the Sierpe River Delta and the Gulfo Dulce. It’s a wonderful opportunity for some jaw-dropping photos.

Once you land in Puerto Jiménez it’s a quick transfer of approximately 5 km to Nereus Retreats.

By road …

Shared taxi-van shuttles can be arranged and are about $450/one way. Capacity depends upon the driver's vehicle and how much luggage.

Waze is the most commonly used navigational app in Costa Rica. Google Maps is also a reliable tool. Search for “Hotel Nereus, Puerto Jiménez”. The apps may offer you a variety of routes but our best advice is to take highway #27 (autopista) west, before heading south on #34 over Río Tarcoles, where you can stop and see crocodiles from the bridge, and then highway #2 before turning right onto road #245 to Puerto Jiménez. All the roads, until the last few kilometers are paved and in very good condition. The last 5 kilometers are on a flat, municipality-maintained dirt/gravel road. Overall the journey takes in the region of six hours, but it’s a wonderful opportunity to take in the Pacific coast, palm plantations, and jungle. You would have a partiuclarly memorable experience if you chose to do the journey over a couple of days and stop off at the National Park of Manuel Antonio or hike to the Nauyaca Waterfalls.

The only time to depart from the instructions that Waze or Google Maps gives you is when you are in the last kilometer of your journey. Continue past the entrance for Iguana lodge and ignore the right-turn to Agua Dulce Resort and the beach. Follow the road until the end, where you will find Nereus Retreats. Read More

Relaxing adventures in the Osa
Beautiful retreat and relaxing vacation. Jen & Stuart are amazing hosts, the staff were great, & made us feel like we were visiting friends. The meals were delicious & nutritious. We were there for adventure & Jen & Stuart provided us with a great recommendation & connection for surfing, fishing, & paddle boarding. They even cooked the fish we caught for dinner for us. We were fortunate to see a lot of wildlife on the property & humpback whales & dolphins in the gulf. Such a wonderful trip. We are looking forward to visiting again. Read More

Magical and transformative
I completed my 200hr YTT at Nereus recently, and my experience was magical. Nereus is in a beautiful location (monkeys, macaws, beach to yourself, lush jungle vegetation), and you can feel the transformative energy as soon as you step on the grounds. My nervous system settled immediately. Jen and Stu are such kind and welcoming people, and their hospitality is unparalleled. You can tell that everything about the place (physically and energetically) is thought out and intentional. The food is amazing, healthy, and prepared with love. I learned so much from all of the teachers (Michelle, Jesse, and Jen) and had the health reset that I really needed. I can't recommend going to Nereus for YTT or a retreat enough. Read More

Nereus was incredible. The owners are amazing and one has professional culinary experience. The menu was amazing and healthy. The rooms are huge and very well appointed. I also loved the yoga studio which was brand new. You are steps from your own private beach and drinking from cocunuts you pick and seeing all the different monkeys that roam the trees was wonderful. It was a perfect getaway, Read More
