Akhilesh Bodhi, the founder of Mahamukti Yoga, is a highly skilled Yoga instructor, Reiki master, and spiritual mentor. With decades of experience, he has developed a comprehensive approach to Yoga that blends traditional practices with modern techniques, drawing inspiration from the styles of BKS Iyengar and K. Pattabhi Jois. This fusion incorporates Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, and Raj Yoga, offering a holistic methodology accessible to individuals worldwide.
Akhilesh Bodhi's journey is a tale of transformation. Born into a large joint family, he initially worked hard in the family business, managing a restaurant after school. His passion for Yoga led him to Lucknow University, where he pursued higher studies. Subsequently, he immersed himself in the Chinmaya Tapovan Ashram in Dharmsala, disconnecting from his family for two years. Despite their efforts to keep him home, the call of spirituality persisted. His parents' passing left him with a sense of guilt, but his life had embarked on an irreversible course.
His spiritual quest took him on a pilgrimage through the Himalayan regions of Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. He embraced a mendicant lifestyle, surviving by begging for food and seeking firsthand experiences of nature's care. One poignant incident stands out—a night in the Himalayan wilderness, where he found shelter with a kind stranger. The profound beauty of that night ignited a newfound thirst for life. As an expression of gratitude, he sourced food for his host and left deeply moved by the experience.
Back in India, Akhilesh Bodhi established his school and began sharing his wisdom with the world. He traveled extensively to countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, conducting workshops and teaching Yoga. Since 2009, he has offered numerous 200 and 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training sessions in collaboration with renowned Yoga centers. His life's mission is to spread the knowledge of Yoga and promote love, peace, and harmony through its practice, inspiring others to do the same.
