About this Retreat

Details of this retreat

This trip to Mexico provides us with an incredible opportunity to travel into the mountains of Oaxaca, and to sit with sacred mushrooms with the Mazatec lineage.

This small town in Mexico, Huautla de Jimenz has a long tradition of using psilocybin mushrooms for healing and growth. They hold a long lineage of curanderas (healers or Shaman), who lead ceremonies, and is where Maria Sabina - the world reknown Shaman - was originally from.

We will have the great fortune on this trip of sitting in ceremony with Magdalena Casimiro, a wise and powerful Shaman, whose mother was part of a well known 'Council of the 13 Grandmothers'. Magdalena's mother, Juliet, also worked alongside Maria Sabina, so we get to participate in this living tradition and lineage of mushroom use.

On our journey, we will sit in 3 traditional Mazatec mushroom ceremonies. The trip will start and end in Mexico City, and our group will travel by bus into the mountains to spend one week in this incredibly beautiful town, far from city life.

Over this trip, we will soak up the gorgeous natural environment with excursions, but also lots of time for slow living, reflection and integration.

Our trips provide an excellent balance with having a group of friends to travel and experience this journey with, and also the opportunity to go inwards on each of our own spiritual journeys.

Inward Travel takes care of all the logistics throughout the trip, as well as helping with planning and preparation. We provide experienced guides to lead the trip, as well as a translator.

It is such an honour to receive the commitment from Magdalena to work specially with our group, as this is not a centre we're visiting, or weekly trip that's offered. We have designed this experience and working directly with Magdalena to bring the opportunity to life.

While in Huautla de Jimenez, we will stay in a beautiful lodge, where all rooms have balconies looking out into the beautiful forest, mountains, and beyond.

Over the one week at our lodge, all meals are provided, and we will have a private van/bus to take us on excursions, and get us to town or other places we choose to visit.

We also provide daily yoga while in Huautla, as well as a breathwork session, and a Temazcal (traditional sweat lodge).

Let Inward Travel take on all the planning, and you can simply flow with the experience as it unfolds and make the most of your trip.
