About this Retreat
Founder
Graduated in 1991, with a BA (Hons) in Business Studies at the University of East London, Álvaro is the chairman of three eponymous brands, and successful businesses, operating in the interiors and architectural sectors in the very heart of London. Álvaro de Ferranti, born in London, United Kingdom, in the early 70’s, spent much his childhood in Portugal and his adult working life in the UK since the late 80’s, having recently emigrated to Portugal with his wife and two children.
Having learned of Iboga in 2013, and discovered its benefits, Álvaro has embarked on the arduous task of organising clinical trials with Ibogaine HCL in Portugal. The whole team, from a reputable manufacturer with a solid protocol, Principal Investigator, CRO, Project Managers and a first class clinic, have all been assembled.
In addition, Álvaro presented Iboga and Ibogaine to Dr. João Goulão, the national drug coordinator for Portugal and the head of SICAD (The General Directorate for Intervention on Addictive Behaviours and Dependancies).
Álvaro has a keen interest in the therapeutic benefits of Iboga, and other entheogens. Especially, the part they play with arresting addiction to harmful substances and behaviours. More importantly, his focus is on holistic, consistent and compassionate aftercare.
Axis is a young shaman healer that has been working for 12 years with master plants and natural medicines, such as Ayahuasca, Iboga, Kambo, Bufo alvarius, temazcales, dietas and many others.
The experience he gained with his shaman maestro, his travels to Mexico, Colombia, Peru and other countries, as well as his degree in Psychology, helped him to create a completely new and original way of doing therapy, called Natural Psychology.
This is giving outstanding results freeing people not only from strong drug slavery, but also from any kind of mental suffering.
For him, working with master plants is the most natural way of living, and they together will truly naturalize everything in your being, helping you to be authentic, free and full of life.
Chiara started her journey with master plants in 2019 and since then she has been working with Axis as partners. She supports him during the ceremonies, in order to bring balance to the masculine and femenine energy which is very important. With Axis she guided ceremonies and organized retreats in different countries in Europe, Mexico and Africa. She also got iniciated in the Bwiti religion in Cameroon in 2022. She studied Fine Art in London and her focus is now on the therapeutical power of creative practices, she runned art therapy workshops and always tries to combine art and nature. She has also been working in an holistic center in Spain where she does massages, energeric healings and beauty facial treatments. She studied alternative healing methods like Shamanic Force energetic canalization and Egyptian Yoga She will help you see the natural beauty within and around you.
Has a degree in Marketing & Advertising (2006), started practicing Hatha Yoga when he was 23 years old and practicing Kundalini Yoga at 25 years of age.
He is a Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher (Level I) and a certified Starchild Yoga Teacher.
He is a regular Kundalini Yoga teacher in Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra, as well as a Children’s Yoga Teacher.
He participates in several solidarity projects, namely in drug addiction.
His aim is to further the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan and spread the practice of yoga and meditation in the Portuguese speaking world.
When I was a young child I had a keen sense of magic. In bed at night I used to hold my hand up to the moonlight and see the glow land on the tip of my pointed index finger. I imagined that the light was a power, an energy coming out from within me. As we mature into the world we are taught that we are separate from one another, powerless. We lose our playfulness, our innate sense of connection. I believe breathwork and cold exposure can help us come back to this state of being.
I have a background in the arts and it is the thread that runs through my life, it connects my relationships and the path I’ve taken, now living happily in Portugal.
My experiences with depression, with the ill health of family members, my meditation practice and natural curiosity all led me to discovering the Wim Hof Method and that’s where I found connection again, to myself, to nature, to others. It may not be magic, in fact, as Wim has shown, this is very much rooted in science, but as the practice grows and the studies pile up, the truth seems to be we are capable of much more than we think.
It doesn’t come for free. It requires commitment, but the method is a powerful gift and I love to share it.
Since childhood Johnny felt a deep spiritual calling to explore both sound and holistic healing on his awakening path. He experienced life changing transformative effects through his study and practice of Reiki, deepening his intuition and trust in universal guidance. Exploring sound through various instruments and vocal activations he was then intuitively guided to unite sound with healing.
Johnny spends much of his time exploring the beneficial effects of instruments, studying and discovering various ways of healing through sound.
Combining his deep interest in Universal Energy – in all its creative manifestations – with his intuition and curiosity in healing frequencies, Johnny is passionate about universal healing through sound. He combined all his learnings in one unique Therapy and called it Kior Therapy.
We are delighted to combine Johnny’s live sound-craft into our psilocybin healing retreats for the ultimate sensory experience. Johnny intuitively knows where to take you with his music. You will be treated to Chakra Activation with Crystal Singing Bowls, Vocal Toning, Sound baths and of course, “the ultimate sound journey”.
Originally hailing from Lisbon, Ruben discovered his true calling upon settling in the serene landscapes of Alentejo. Armed with a degree in the social services sector and counseling, he honed his skills at a specialized institution catering to youth grappling with profound emotional disorders and addiction challenges. From an early age, Ruben harbored a steadfast belief in the potential for enduring transformation in individuals and the power to heal trauma, paving the way for a more fulfilling existence.
Driven by this conviction, Ruben delved deeper into the realm of addiction, dedicating himself to aiding those entangled in the grip of substance misuse. Since 2019, he has been an integral part of the team at Quinta da Fé, the nurturing haven of Tabula Rasa Retreat. Here, Ruben embodies compassion, discretion, attentiveness, and empathy, serving as the primary liaison between our esteemed guests and our comprehensive support network.
Ruben's unwavering faith in the therapeutic potency of love, nurtured by his own healing journey, fuels his commitment to each guest's well-being. He firmly advocates that unlocking and nurturing the inner child within is paramount to achieving lasting recovery and embracing a life brimming with joy and fulfillment.
In October 2022, Pedro courageously decided to tackle a longstanding opioid addiction, embarking on a healing journey with ibogaine treatment at Tabula Rasa Retreat. His recovery journey has since inspired him to join our team.
As our in-house writer and blogger, Pedro vividly narrates inspiring recovery stories, documents the impactful work at our retreat, and authors informative, thought-provoking essays about the intriguing world of ibogaine and ancestral plant medicines.
Pedro’s expression goes beyond words; he establishes direct connections with our clients. Driven by his empathetic nature and passion for holistic healing, he facilitates breathwork sessions and assists clients in assimilating their ibogaine experiences. His multifaceted contributions have greatly enriched the retreat experience, establishing him as an invaluable asset to the Tabula Rasa Retreat team.
Nena Mae Polinar is a registered nurse and has been in the health care industry for six years. She had her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Holy Name University in the Philippines.
She has a work experience in hospital, clinic nurse and home care nurse. Her job includes monitoring a patient’s treatment , devising care plan and providing medical care during emergencies.
She want’s to be a nurse because she has this insatiable need to care for others and wants to use her strength and skills to make the most positive difference in the world, especially in the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of the society. It was clear to her that she found her calling and she believes that every single life matters, so she ensures that every day she handle her job with great careful attention. When you’re a nurse you know every day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours.
