In this retreat we will cleanse and harmonize our mind, body, spirit and emotions through the ancestral medicine of Ayahuasca(Yagé) and Wachuma. And in addition, we will have two sweat lodge ceremonies, so we can receive the medicines in a cleansed sense of being.
About Yagé....
Yagé, ayahuasca, or vine of the soul, is an Amazonian sacrament. Among the master plants, it is the most widely used throughout the Amazon corridor, from the Colombian, Venezuelan, Ecuadorian, Peruvian, and Brazilian Amazons, extending to some parts of Bolivia.
Tradition tells us that along the Amazon River, the use of Yagé, or Ayahuasca has been practiced for centuries. It is the mirror of the soul, a sacred medicine that helps us recognize ourselves as part of the whole, to integrate with life itself, with nature, and to recognize the divinity within. Powerful healing and cleansing processes often occur, since the veil of illusion prevents us from fully awakening and recognizing the spiritual world. Yagé is a purgative made from the Ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) and a shrubby plant called chacruna (Psychotria viridis). As a purgative, it works by cleansing the physical body, mind, emotions, and soul. In its way of working, it helps us understand, in our individuality, what we need to be well in our lives, beyond what we desire. Many people
have high expectations due to the information found on the internet and social media, and what other people may say; however, the experience can be completely different. The Yagé plant, in its wisdom, helps us understand what each person requires for their lives. People speak of visions of colors and shapes, spirals, mandalas, or geometries, but there are many ways in which Yagé helps us understand. Vision can go beyond the visual; Understanding can come through deep reflection, through a medicine song (icaros), or the sound of a harmonica. This vision can manifest at dawn, when we see the sun and the birds, when we are in a receptive state of contemplation with life itself, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the understanding of the great mystery of life, of existence.
With this opportunity, we want to invite sisters and brothers from different places to share these sacred ceremonies in our territories and be able to accompany them on a healing and holistic wellness retreat to give thanks and honor life.
The Wachuma cactus, also known as the San Pedro cactus, is native to the Andes mountains and grows at 2000-3000 M of altitude mainly throughout Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile and Columbia. The cactus contains a number of alkaloids, primarily mescaline which can also be found in its well known cousin, the Peyote cactus.
Wachuma is a heart-opening, heart consciousness medicine. It is timeless, universal, and accessible to those who bring the right intention and a good, open heart to it. The Wachuma experience offers a new perspective and a way to relate with life from an open heart.
The itinerary of the retreat will be the following:
You will be picked up at the airport and then be driven to the retreat center. Dinner will be served upon arrival. All meals on the retreat will be prepared by Jimmy, a vegetarian chief. He combines healthy organic ingredients with traditional Peruvian cuisine. After dinner we will have a Mambeadero in the Maloka.
In the Mambeadero we enter a circle where, through the presence of each of its participants and the art of communication, we allow ourselves to unveil a question, a question that is important to solve for this group through the inner wisdom of each one of its members.
In the circle of words we are accompanied by Coca Medicine, which helps our words to be sweet and feminine. And we are being accompanied by Tobacco Ambira, which carries the masculine energy and gives us clarity and concreteness. This medicine blend will help our words of wisdom to become “sweetly firm & firmly sweet.” From this state, profound insights are realized that catalyze an evolution of consciousness.
On the second day we will have we will have an Inipi sweat lodge ceremony. The sweat lodge is a space for prayer and healing. The dark, warm space of the lodge and its shape can be viewed as a replica of a womb, offering an opportunity to experience ‘rebirth.’
At night we will have our first Yagé(Ayahuasca) ceremony.
The third day we will rest from the night ceremony. After dinner we will have another Mambeadero to integrate last night’s ceremony.
Day four is our daytime Wachuma hike in the mountains of Cocorná. The beauty of the mountains and nature is
breath taking.
On the 5th day we will l have a relaxed and empowering yoga class with Jennifer Alvarez. Followed by a reiki healing. At night we will have our 2nd Yagé Ayahuasca ceremony.
On our last full day, Sergio will run a Inipi/sweat lodge ceremony with a small dose of Wachuma( up to each participant). On the land, we have a nature swimming pool for the participants to jump in after the sweat lodge. A traditional Peruvian dinner will be served after the ceremony.
The next day we leave the land after breakfast. There will be an optional tour of Medellin for our participants.
