About this Retreat
Hi! I’m Nathan, 36 years old from Zaandam in the Netherlands.
Let me start by saying psychedelics aren’t a magic bullet. But what stood out for me experiencing psilocybin, was how it has the potential to (re)connect. Not only yourself and your inner work, but also with the world around you. With people, with nature and earth as a whole. That reconnection can be seen as a part of healing trauma, but It can also be beneficial for the lighter side of life. For me it sparked a new childish curiosity, creativity, empathy and less rigid thinking. I connected to nature as well, making more conscious decisions and enjoying life more in general.
I started my psychedelic journey in 2012 and in the last five years I started training myself as a professional guide. I followed courses by Inwardbound, Atira Tan and others, and successfully finished the 13 month Psychedelic Practitioner Core Program by Synthesis Institute in 2023.
I’m not a shaman, energy worker, healer, trip sitter or psychedelic informed therapist. I consider myself a psychedelic guide or practitioner. From the intake, screening to the psychedelic session and integration: I will guide you through. I use therapeutic and mindful modalities like mindfulness based cognitive therapy, meditation and breathwork and some simple somatic exercises if needed.
My approach is open and caring; with humor, using trauma informed language and a supportive and balanced presence.
One of the key elements of the Head Trip experience is ethics. An umbrella term for safety, accessibility, transparency, sustainability and cultural appreciation. I do not engage in neo shamanic ritual so you will not see me drumming around the room. I’m in a supportive and still presence, offering you an introspective experience with beautiful curated music.
Lastly, I have a clear code of ethics and also adhere to the code of conduct from the Guild of Guides Nederland, the professional association for psychedelic facilitation. I’m not only a member, but I also take part in the communications circle. I pledged via North Star and support and donate to psychedelic institutes.
Details of this retreat
Hey! Curious about psychedelics, but not quite ready for a high dose? Look no further!
In this inspiring workshop, you’ll discover how legal magic truffles work in a safe, accessible, and above all fun way. Without the woo-woo.
We’ve put together a varied program for you. And no, you don’t need any prior experience!
PILOT 🎉
This is our first workshop! A photographer is present. If you do not wish to be recognisable in photos or videos, please let us know before we begin.
GROUP
This workshop is for 6 to 8 participants and 2 guides.
PROGRAM
• Psychedelics crash course
• Low dose of fresh magic truffles (approximately 1 to 5 grams)
• Various accessible exercises (breathwork, meditation, movement, journaling, etc.)
• Walk through the Vliegenbos (part of the walk will be in silence and include mindfulness exercises)
• Listening session (meditative psychedelic music and/or your own music selections)
• Unlimited tea, fresh fruit, healthy snacks, and some tasty soft drinks
TRUFFLE DOSAGE 🍄
Please note: this is not a microdosing workshop. We’ll determine the dosage together in the morning, but you can expect between 1 and 5 grams of fresh truffles ‘atlantis’.
EFFECTS
The effects can vary greatly from person to person. Psychedelics tend to amplify your senses, emotions, and awareness. You may feel light and energized, or more grounded and heavy. Mild nausea is possible. Some people feel a little cold at first and pleasantly warm later on.
Sounds and smells may seem more vivid, and you might even notice some subtle visual effects! Colours can appear richer, light may feel more vibrant, and the world can seem as if it is gently breathing. Music can become deeply immersive, and your thoughts may wander in unexpected directions. A tear, a moment of awe, or a burst of laughter can all be part of the experience.
Because the dosage is low, most people remain fully aware and in control. We will be there throughout the experience to guide you and help create a safe and supportive environment.
FOOD & DRINK
Important! Take the truffles on an empty stomach, around 11:00 AM. Please avoid eating a heavy meal for 3 to 4 hours beforehand. This reduces nausea.
We provide fresh fruit, healthy snacks, tea, and soft drinks. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are not included.
You may find it helpful to bring your own food to eat after the workshop is finished.
WHAT TO BRING ☔️
Please bring comfortable and suitable clothing for both indoor and outdoor activities.
Even if there’s a bit of rain, we’ll still head into the Vliegenbos, so wear shoes that can handle a little mud.
Bottle of water? Always useful. Umbrella or rain jacket? Smart idea too!
ACCESSIBILITY
Please note that the studio is located on the first floor and can only be reached by stairs.
We’ll also be taking a gentle walk through the Vliegenbos, so please keep this in mind if mobility is a concern.
