Yasha

From a young age, Yasha was captivated by metaphysics, often choosing to daydream about the nature of reality rather than focus on traditional studies. Although Yasha pursued a degree in business administration, there was always a sense of something missing, a lack of clarity about the true path in life. In 2017, Yasha decided to try Ayahuasca, initially thinking it might be similar to mushrooms, perhaps just stronger. Little did Yasha know that this experience would be life-changing.
Following a period of travel in Nepal and India, Yasha found a deep calling to the Amazon rainforest, seeking a more profound understanding of Ayahuasca. The more Yasha connected with the medicine, the more it revealed about the self. For Yasha, Ayahuasca is not just a tool for healing but a crucial element in spiritual development. When asked what Ayahuasca has brought to life, Yasha often reflects on a poem by Rumi:

Initiated by Peruvian healers into the tradition of Shipibo Curanderismo, Yasha is a dedicated student of plant medicine and Shakta Tantra (Sri Kula). Yasha is also training with ICEERS and is currently working towards certification in integration and harm reduction. Through this journey, Yasha hopes to be the friend you need on your path with medicine, and perhaps, in life.

Taita Miguel Mavisoy is a Camsá medicine carrier from Putumayo, Colombia. His family has held the Yagé lineage for twelve unbroken generations. He received the medicine for the first time at six months old, guided by his parents, both respected healers in the Camsá tradition, and began serving Yagé at fourteen.
He grew up in the village of Buena Vista near the Ecuadorian border, raised in a communal way of life built on presence, humility and connection to the land. Those values shape how he holds ceremony: a sacred fire, traditional Camsá music, harmonica and song, with room for joy alongside the depth of the work. His wife is also a healer, and they work together.
At MahaDevi, Taita Miguel is the preparation, the ceremony and the lineage in one person. The plants grow on his own land. He prepares every batch of medicine himself, in both Crudo (cold-brew) and cooked form, and he personally leads every ceremony, from the first morning of medicine making through the final night. He sits with each guest one-on-one before every ceremony to decide what medicine, and how much, that person needs.
His Crudo Yagé is known throughout Putumayo for its notably sweet taste and gentle body. People travel from Colombia, Europe and North America to sit with him.
On Medicine Maker dates, Taita Miguel teaches guests to prepare the Crudo by hand over two mornings, exactly as his family has done for twelve generations, and then serves what they made.

Cold Brew Aya is a rare form of ayahuasca. Our Indigenous healers consider Crudo Yagé the original recipe of what the world now calls ayahuasca: a cold preparation, made without fire, from plants that grow on our Taita's own land, a short walk from where you sleep. It is far gentler on the body, with much less nausea and the same depth. People here call it sweet medicine, and they mean the taste. It ferments within days, so it cannot be shipped. You can only drink it here.
WHO HOLDS THE CEREMONIES
Taita Miguel Mavisoy of the Camsá people carries twelve unbroken generations of Yagé. He received the medicine at six months old, began serving at fourteen, and leads every ceremony himself around a sacred fire, with harmonica and song. He grows the plants, prepares every batch, and sits with you one-on-one before each ceremony. Same Taita from the first morning to the last night. Not a rotating cast of facilitators.

Two mornings preparing the Crudo with Taita Miguel by hand: cleaning the leaves, smashing the vine with wooden mallets, extracting without fire, exactly as his family has done for twelve generations. SAFETY FIRST, ALWAYS
A confidential medical screening form (HIPAA compliant) and a personal discovery call before anyone is accepted. First-aid trained team. Hospital 30 minutes away. Harm reduction protocol: if anything comes up after the retreat that needs clinical care, MahaDevi covers one session with a licensed healthcare professional. English-speaking facilitators throughout, with translation when you speak with Taita Miguel.
PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING
For your safety we cannot accept guests who currently have, or have a history of, psychosis or schizophrenia, epilepsy, or active substance dependence. Certain medications, including SSRIs and other antidepressants, must be tapered under your doctor's supervision before ceremony. Everything else is reviewed case by case through the screening form and your call with us. If you are unsure whether this applies to you, message us before booking.
THE SETTING
Between the Andes and the Amazon, 30 minutes outside Mocoa. You sleep to the sound of the river, bathe in a private waterfall, rest by the pool, and eat three locally sourced meals a day, standard or plant-based, with fresh aromatic juices. Hot showers, premium bedding, Wi-Fi and 24/7 on-site security. Round-trip airport transfers from Puerto Asís (PUU) or Villagarzón (VGZ) are included.
HOW PAYMENT WORKS
The price shown is the full price per person. A deposit is paid here to reserve your place, the balance is due 30 days before the retreat, and the final portion is paid in Colombian pesos on arrival, part of it in cash. Exact amounts are on your booking confirmation. No hidden fees.
WHO WE ARE
MahaDevi Retreats is run by Yasha and Ania, a small team hosting guests from North America and Europe in Putumayo. We plant 10 trees per guest with the Saving the Amazon foundation and support the Indigenous ceremonial leaders, their families and their community from our own resources.
OUR COMMITMENT
We do not sell Yagé. The medicine is given by the Taita. Our work is the container around it: honest screening, real preparation, a safe and intimate ceremony space, and the 90 days after you go home, where the real change happens.
