Taita Miguel Mavisoy

Taita Miguel Mavisoy is a Camsá medicine carrier from Putumayo, Colombia. His family has held the Yagé lineage for twelve unbroken generations. He received the medicine for the first time at six months old, guided by his parents, both respected healers in the Camsá tradition, and began serving Yagé at fourteen.

He grew up in the village of Buena Vista near the Ecuadorian border, raised in a communal way of life built on presence, humility and connection to the land. Those values shape how he holds ceremony: a sacred fire, traditional Camsá music, harmonica and song, with room for joy alongside the depth of the work. His wife is also a healer, and they work together.

At MahaDevi, Taita Miguel is the preparation, the ceremony and the lineage in one person. The plants grow on his own land. He prepares every batch of medicine himself, in both Crudo (cold-brew) and cooked form, and he personally leads every ceremony, from the first morning of medicine making through the final night. He sits with each guest one-on-one before every ceremony to decide what medicine, and how much, that person needs.

His Crudo Yagé is known throughout Putumayo for its notably sweet taste and gentle body. People travel from Colombia, Europe and North America to sit with him.

On Medicine Maker dates, Taita Miguel teaches guests to prepare the Crudo by hand over two mornings, exactly as his family has done for twelve generations, and then serves what they made.
