About this Retreat

Schedule

Day 1
Arrival and Presentations – Guests are picked up from the Airport Hotel in an air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter bus and arrive in the early afternoon at Eleusinia’s private 100-acre retreat center, located in the picturesque lakeside community of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, often referred to as the "Hamptons of Mexico City." Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by the retreat team, which includes facilitators, medical professionals, and support staff. They are given time to settle in and connect with other attendees while enjoying snacks and refreshments. Each guest will have an initial one-on-one medical intake with a member of Eleusinia’s medical team, as well as an opportunity to meet individually with Eleusinia’s Curandera, a traditional Mexican mushroom practitioner, who offers a spiritual cleansing and blessing for their journey. Guests will also receive a tour of the Eleusinia grounds to become familiar with the surroundings.

In the late afternoon, presentations cover the neuroscience of psychedelics, preparation for the upcoming macrodose, Eleusinia’s approach to "intention setting," and a formal introduction to the Eleusinia team. This is followed by an intimate group dinner on our veranda, prepared by our gourmet chef.

Day 2
The morning begins with a follow-up presentation on navigating a psychedelic journey, alongside a discussion of the tools and techniques we use to support our guests throughout their experience. Guests are further introduced to the thoughtfully curated garden spaces, designed specifically to enrich their journey. Eleusinia’s breathwork and meditation coach leads them through a series of exercises in preparation for the macrodose.

The session begins as a group in our meditation structure, affectionately called "The Nest," and soon transitions to a more personal experience across our expansive gardens and private alcoves. Each area features carefully curated stations designed to deepen the journey, offering options like relaxing in a hammock, cozy cocoon-like seating, or lounging in spacious living rooms with floor-to-ceiling views. Every setting is meticulously crafted to provide a unique and exploratory environment, all under the attentive care of our facilitators (1:2 ratio). These spaces integrate neuroscience-based tools and techniques to assist in navigating the psychedelic journey, which lasts approximately 4-6 hours.

Evenings are spent unwinding by the fire, providing a space for reflection, journaling, or engaging in informal conversations with team members and fellow guests about their experiences.

Day 3
Day 3 is focused on DMT, integration, meditation classes, and massage. It’s a full day at Eleusinia. Each guest participates in individual DMT sessions after the group breakfast, supported by Eleusinia’s facilitators, with a ratio of two facilitators per guest. After lunch, small group classes in breathwork, mindfulness, and TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) are led by our breathwork and meditation coach, along with one-on-one integration sessions with either our psychotherapist or a specialist trained in psychedelic integration.

The afternoon includes a massage session followed by our Mushroom Cultivation Course Part #1 and a lively group dinner. Each guest receives a personalized schedule, with breaks interspersed to allow time for socializing with other guests, resting, or exploring the grounds. Guests also have the option to record their individual integration sessions for sharing with family members or therapists back home.

Day 4
After breakfast, one-on-one integration meetings with our curandera are available for those seeking a cultural and spiritual perspective. Small group classes on Tension Release Exercises (TRE) and other somatic movement techniques are led by our mind and body coach. After lunch, guests receive a one-hour hot stone massage to further enhance relaxation.

The day also includes small group mindfulness hikes on our grounds and, during mushroom season, guided mushroom hunting trips through our forest. In the evening, we continue with the second part of our mushroom cultivation class, concluding the day with a relaxed group dinner.

Excursions, such as paragliding or trips to town, as well as additional massage sessions, can also be scheduled on this day, offering guests an opportunity to further customize their experience with activities that align with their personal preferences for relaxation or adventure.

Day 5
On day 5, guests embark on their second psilocybin macrodose of the retreat. The insights and experiences from the first macrodose are carefully reviewed to fine-tune the dosing and provide any necessary additional support. The medical team consults with each guest to discuss the sensations they experienced during the initial dose and make adjustments to the dosing plan or comfort measures, such as managing nausea or other factors. The session itself follows a similar structure to the first macrodose, unfolding within our expansive gardens.

Before the session, we revisit the techniques used to navigate the psychedelic experience, evaluating which methods were most impactful for each guest during their first journey. The evening after the macrodose is reserved for relaxation and recovery, giving guests the space to reflect on their experience and rest.

Day 6
For guests who have opted for the class, day 6 begins with an early morning DMT extraction workshop. Later, the group breakfast includes a creative writing exercise designed to compliment the psychedelic integration process. After breakfast, class participants enjoy some leisurely time in the garden, exploring individual DMT sessions to further develop their navigation techniques.
In preparation for the minidose, there is a meditation session that incorporates Wim Hof breathing techniques and other practices aimed at enhancing the psychedelic experience. The minidose session begins with a cold plunge to boost endorphin and norepinephrine levels, preparing participants for the deeply meditative state of the minidose. Immediately after the cold plunge, we start the minidose, spending the rest of the afternoon in deep psychedelic meditation exploring the garden or relaxing by the fire.

Dinner following the minidose is a lively event, featuring psychedelic trivia to reinforce the knowledge gained throughout the retreat.

For those that have opted out of the extraction class, this day is the perfect opportunity to explore the local attractions such as paragliding, visiting town, or visiting the nearby monarch butterfly sanctuary.

Day 7
Day 7 begins early with the second part of the DMT extraction workshop. After breakfast, guests have the opportunity to participate in their second, more personalized DMT session, with each participant selecting their own setting. Many choose to revisit their favorite spots in the garden for a more intimate and tailored experience.

In the afternoon, guests take part in a Temazcal ceremony, a traditional sweat lodge ritual involving heated lava rocks and herbal steam.

The evening concludes with a closing gathering, featuring a cacao ceremony, providing a reflective and ceremonial closure to the day and the retreat experience.

Day 8
Day 8 begins with a group breakfast and an optional poetry reading for those who wish to share their writings from the retreat. Before departures, we take our signature "backs only" group photo to commemorate the experience while respecting the privacy of all guests. Afterward, the bus will transport guests back to Mexico City to catch their flights home.

BETTER!
A Transformative Journey at Eleusinia Retreat: Healing Chronic Pain and Rediscovering Myself
As someone who’s battled chronic pain for years, I decided to take a leap of faith and attend Eleusinia Retreat in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. My goals were twofold: to find relief from the relentless physical discomfort that had overshadowed my daily life and to work on becoming a better husband, father, and overall person. What I experienced over the course of the retreat far exceeded my expectations. It wasn’t just a temporary escape or a quick fix, it was a profound, life-altering immersion that continues to unfold even days after returning home. If you’re considering a psilocybin retreat for therapeutic reasons, Eleusinia stands out for its thoughtful, science-backed approach, luxurious yet grounded setting, and commitment to long-term integration.

The Setting and Arrival: A Sanctuary for Healing
Nestled in the serene landscapes of Valle de Bravo, about two hours from Mexico City, Eleusinia feels like a hidden gem designed for introspection and renewal. The retreat is hosted on a beautiful property surrounded by lush gardens, towering trees, and tranquil views that immediately set a calming tone. Accommodations are private and luxurious, think spacious rooms with en-suite bathrooms, comfortable bedding, and all the modern amenities you’d expect from a high-end getaway, but without the pretentiousness. I appreciated that groups are kept small (typically 4-6 participants), fostering an intimate, supportive environment where everyone feels seen and heard. No shared rooms unless you’re traveling with a partner, which added to the sense of personal space and safety.
From the moment I arrived, the staff led by knowledgeable facilitators with backgrounds in psychedelics, chronic pain management, and psychology—made me feel welcomed and prepared. The founder, a chronic pain patient themselves, has infused the program with empathy and practicality, drawing from personal experience using psilocybin for conditions like hemicrania continua and cluster headaches. This isn’t your typical “woo-woo” retreat; it’s grounded in education and evidence, with a focus on sustainable practices rather than one-off highs.

The Core Experience: Psilocybin Sessions and Deep Inner Work
The heart of Eleusinia is its guided psilocybin experiences, which are carefully dosed and facilitated to promote therapeutic breakthroughs. I went in hoping for pain relief, but what I got was a comprehensive rewiring of my perspective on life. Over the multi-day program, we participated in macro-dose sessions (higher amounts for deeper exploration) that encouraged a “deep dive” into one’s psyche. It’s hard to overstate how this process upends, reconfigures, and rejuvenates your inner world.
For me, the sessions brought forth a whirlwind of emotions and insights: confronting fear (of vulnerability and failure as a family man), embracing love (for my wife and kids in ways I’d suppressed), unpacking pain (both the chronic physical kind and the psychological scars it leaves), releasing anger (at my body’s limitations), and ultimately finding peace. One session felt like a relentless mirror to my life, forcing me to examine how my pain had made me distant and short-tempered at home. It wasn’t always easy, there were moments of intensity, but the facilitators were there every step, offering gentle guidance without imposing their own interpretations. They emphasize a balanced view: some lean spiritual, others hyper-rational, allowing you to process in your own way.
What sets Eleusinia apart is their integration of additional psychedelics like DMT (in optional extraction workshops), which I tried for the first time. It was brief but intense, complementing the psilocybin by providing quick, targeted relief and insights. Guests have shared stories of using these tools for migraines, PTSD, and even as abortives for headaches, aligning with my own quest for pain management. Post-session, my chronic pain felt noticeably diminished, not gone, but manageable in a way that medications never achieved. More importantly, the experience equipped me with tools to maintain that relief at home.
Even now, just a few days out, my mind is still sorting through it all. Vivid dreams recap key moments from the retreat, like reliving conversations with facilitators or symbolic visions of family harmony. This ongoing integration is a testament to the retreat’s depth; it’s not a “vacation high” that fades, it’s a catalyst for lasting change.

Education and Empowerment: Learning the “How” Behind the “Why”
One of the standout aspects of Eleusinia is its educational component, which goes far beyond what’s typically required for a psychedelic retreat. Many places focus solely on the experience itself, but here, they teach you the science, safety, and self-sufficiency needed for ongoing use. Workshops on mushroom cultivation and DMT extraction were eye-openers, I left knowing how to grow my own psilocybin mushrooms responsibly and extract DMT if needed, empowering me to continue my healing journey independently. This “teach the how, not just the why” philosophy is rare; elsewhere, these are often pricey add-ons or not offered at all.
The program includes sessions on psychedelic neuroscience, harm reduction, and integration techniques, drawing from research on psilocybin’s benefits for chronic pain and mental health. I learned about microdosing protocols (though they caution it might not suit everyone for pain) and how to navigate “bad trips” if they arise. This knowledge has been invaluable, especially as someone new to psychedelics. It’s clear the retreat was designed by someone who’s walked the path of chronic suffering, prioritizing practical tools over mysticism.

The Little Perks That Make a Big Difference
Eleusinia excels in the details that elevate the experience from good to exceptional. Meals are gourmet, vegetarian, and tailored to support the psychedelic process, think fresh, locally sourced ingredients that nourish without weighing you down. The property offers meditation spaces and nature walks, which helped ground me between sessions. Small perks like personalized playlists, integration journals, and follow-up support calls post-retreat feel like thoughtful bonuses, but they’re standard here. Unlike other retreats where these might be upsells, Eleusinia includes them seamlessly, enhancing the sense of care.
The community aspect was another highlight. Sharing stories with like-minded participants, many dealing with pain, trauma, or personal growth, created bonds that felt authentic and lasting. It’s a welcoming space for all ages and backgrounds; I even heard about an 80-year-old guest exploring DMT for the first time!

Final Thoughts: A Worthwhile Investment in Self-Transformation
Eleusinia Retreat isn’t cheap, but for the profound impact it had on my chronic pain and personal life, it’s worth every penny. I’ve returned home with a renewed commitment to being a more present husband and father, small changes like communicating openly about my pain or prioritizing family time are already making waves. My perspective has shifted: pain no longer defines me, and I’ve gained tools to foster love, peace, and resilience.
If you’re seeking relief from physical or emotional burdens, or simply want to evolve as a person, I can’t recommend Eleusinia enough. It’s professional, safe, and transformative, with a perfect blend of luxury, education, and empathy. Just be prepared: this isn’t a passive experience, it’s an active reconfiguration of your life. Days later, I’m still dreaming about it, and that’s the beauty of it all. For more details, check their site or read other guest stories; mine is just one of many glowing endorsements. Read More

My Eleusinia Journey
This was an experience I'm glad I took. I had never done psychedelics before and wanted the experience but did not want to do it on my one. My daughter found this place and we went as a family to heal some past wounds and the bounding and togetherness we share at the retreat was so helpful in our healing process. The staff became family because of the care and attention they provide. They are really there to help and I can't imagine a more loving and caring group of people. They had medical people on the staff so that alleviated any apprehensions I had with the experience. My journey's with Mushrooms, (Macro dose/Mini dose) and DMT were spiritual and healed some of my past wounds. I will be forever grateful for the experience and the help of all who were there to support. I discovered new breathing techniques to help with my anxiety and meditation practices.

Staff and Site were Amazing
I contacted Eleusinia in June 2022, but life (and bringing other people along) delayed my visit until May 2025. I'm glad it happened this way—doing it together with them made it more meaningful.
I came because I was tired of feeling stuck and wanted a real shift. I'd been in therapy and on antidepressants (passively coping), but needed something deeper.
The macro session had the most impact. It hit hard, but in a way that helped me see clearly. The DMT was okay. I didn't break through, but I feel more comfortable with it now.
The prep helped, especially the breathwork and tips on how to stay present, especially the TRE.
The on-site medical team was a big reason I chose Eleusinia. They made me feel safe enough to let go. That and the science-based approach made it stand out from other retreats I looked into.
Eleusinia exceeded my expectations in terms of how grounded and professional everything was. I left feeling more connected to myself and the tools I'll keep using and the network provided.
100% confident I chose the right place. And the caramel lava cake was bomb? Read More
