Retreat starts Friday with rosary and Mass at 8:00pm, ends Sunday with Noon lunch.
Deepening in Prayer
This retreat will explore the benefits of silent prayer as a catalyst to encounter the love Jesus bestows from His Father, especially by opening ourselves to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Father Kubat said he chose this topic because it flows from his own practice of prayer.
“I frequently pray for the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit,” he explained, “especially when I do not know what to say. And I pray with confidence because the Lord will answer this prayer; we can rely on the aid of the Holy Spirit Who will give us the words to speak.”
Father Kubat has been a priest for 25 years and is pastor at St. Andrew in Tecumseh and St Mary in St Mary. He served 14 years as director of Catholic Social Services in the Diocese of Lincoln, known for its many charitable works assisting the poor and providing Catholic counseling services.
An avid promoter of Good Counsel Retreat House, Father Kubat said once someone “has experienced the power of a retreat and is enkindled with the fire of love, they will make it their mission to encourage their family and friends to attend.”
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a sanctuary of prayer and recollection on a spacious acreage near Waverly. There are 50 single rooms, each with a private bath. Retreats typically begin with a Rosary and Mass at 8 p.m. Friday, and end with Sunday Mass and lunch.
We want our retreats to be accessible to everyone, please consider an additional donation, or contact the Retreat House to inquire about financial assistance or if your parish pays part of the cost. If the retreat you’re interested in is full, contact us to be put on a waiting list. A few double rooms are available upon request. Airport transportation to/from LNK or OMA is also available upon request.
In-person at the Retreat House or at-home, live stream and on demand recordings. In-person retreats include meditations by the retreat master, the sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation, the Liturgy of the Hours and other devotions, extended opportunities for silence and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
