Thai Yoga Massage is a unique healing therapy with Indian origins in Ayurvedic medicine and Yoga. It combines yoga postures and stretching with various massage techniques, working along energy lines and pressure points. Together these actions result in a comprehensive treatment that relieves muscular tension, improves circulation, boosts the immune system and balances the body energetically.

In this introductory course you will learn the foundations of Thai Yoga Massage and practice a 30 minute massage sequence to help your family and friends release stress and tension. 

No prerequisites required for this course. You can take the course with a friend or come by yourself.  

Tuition Cost: $ 100 plus residential cost (room price and meals)

Mirabai – Mariana Mosca was raised in a yogic family and has been practicing yoga all of her life. She has been teaching for 25 years and sharing her expertise in yoga teachers’ training worldwide. Her soothing voice has guided thousands of students into body awareness, deep relaxation and connection to their inner Self. Mirabai is also a Thai Massage therapist and teacher. She started her practice in 2007 and became a close disciple of Master Kam Thye Chow. She views this unique massage technique as an extension of her yoga practice to help others ease off their pain and reconnect to their own healing source. For the last 3 years, Mirabai has been practicing Osteothai, a wonderful practice that brings the osteopathy approach to Thai Massage. She has also studied in Thailand where she had the honor to learn from different Thai Massage Masters. Coupled with her extensive knowledge of Yoga, Mirabai holds a degree in Psychology, lending her grace and depth as she communicates her passion for both Yoga and Thai Massage. Introduction au massage thaïlandais

Le massage thaï-yoga est une thérapie de bien-être unique, issue de la médecine ayurvédique et du yoga indiens. Il associe des postures de yoga et des étirements à diverses techniques de massage, en agissant sur les méridiens énergétiques et les points de pression Ensemble, ces gestes constituent un soin complet qui soulage les tensions musculaires, améliore la circulation sanguine, renforce le système immunitaire et rééquilibre l'énergie du corps.

Dans ce cours d'initiation, vous apprendrez les bases du massage thaï yoga et vous vous exercerez à réaliser une séquence de massage de 30 minutes afin d'aider votre famille et vos amis à évacuer le stress et les tensions.

Aucun prérequis n'est exigé pour ce cours. Vous pouvez y participer avec un ami ou venir seul.  

Prix : 100 $ pour le cours plus prix additionnel pour la résidence à l’ashram (logement et  repas). 

Mirabai – Mariana Mosca a grandi dans une famille adepte du yoga et pratique cette discipline depuis toujours. Elle enseigne depuis 25 ans et transmet son expertise dans le cadre de formations de professeurs de yoga à travers le monde. Sa voix apaisante a guidé des milliers d’élèves vers la conscience corporelle, la relaxation profonde et la connexion à leur Moi intérieur. Mirabai est également praticienne et enseignante de massage thaï. Elle a commencé sa pratique en 2007 et est devenue une disciple proche de Maître Kam Thye Chow. Elle considère cette technique de massage unique comme un prolongement de sa pratique du yoga, destinée à aider les autres à soulager leurs douleurs et à renouer avec leur propre source de guérison. Depuis trois ans, Mirabai pratique l’Osteothai, une merveilleuse discipline qui associe l’approche ostéopathique au massage thaï. Elle a également étudié en Thaïlande, où elle a eu l’honneur d’apprendre auprès de différents maîtres du massage thaï. Outre ses connaissances approfondies en yoga, Mirabai est titulaire d'un diplôme en psychologie, ce qui lui confère une grâce et une profondeur particulières lorsqu'elle transmet sa passion tant pour le yoga que pour le massage thaï. Directions

By car: take Route 15 North from Montreal to Exit 76 (Val-David, Val-Morin), then Route 117 North for 200 metres and turn right toward Val-Morin. Follow the blue road signs for "Camp Yoga Sivananda".
From Montreal-Trudeau airport (YUL), the drive takes about 1 hour 10 minutes.
By bus: take the 747 bus from the airport to downtown Montreal, then Autobus Galland from the Montreal bus terminal Berri-UQAM to Val-Morin.

Accommodation

Single rooms in the Lodge have a bed, a chair, shelving and a private bathroom, or a shared bathroom at a lower price. Double rooms have an armoire and a private bathroom with a shower. We also have shared rooms with 3 to 4 beds and, from June to September, a dormitory with curtained cubicles. In summer you can pitch your own tent on the wooded grounds. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out at 11 am.

These rooms are located in the main LODGE, where you can find the reception, the library, the dining room and the shop as well as the other 15 rooms we offer in this building. It is a comfortable ecological building made of straw bales. The underfloor heating system diffuses heat evenly throughout. The building has a comfortable seating area and roof terraces overlooking the gardens where guests can enjoy the outdoors when the weather permits.

PanchaKarma Single Plus

The rooms in this category have a private bathroom, a single bed, a desk and a chair as well as a large wardrobe. They are spacious, cozy and comfortable. The ashram sits on wooded land in the Laurentian Mountains, about an hour from Montreal, with forest trails down to the lake, a wood-fired sauna and an outdoor pool in summer. When the weather allows, yoga classes are held outdoors on the platform by the pond, otherwise in the Mataji Hall or the Annapoorna Building. The Lodge, an ecological straw-bale building with underfloor heating, holds the reception, the library, the sauna and the dining room.

Meals

Menu Types

We serve two vegetarian meals a day, brunch at 10 am and dinner at 6 pm, balanced and nourishing with plenty of local vegetables. Following yogic tradition, our kitchen does not use meat, fish, eggs, garlic or onions. Alcohol, tobacco and drugs are not allowed at the ashram.

Love the yoga, the food and the people I meet.... But please :
The Sivananda Val-Morin Center is well located, surrounded by plenty of land to roam and meditate. The yoga sessions are good, but repetitive and that is the Sivananda way. The Satsang is good and the speeches are interesting / informative. The food is GENEROUS and usually quite tasty ! But venerating of ''Vishnu''devananda should be removed from the beginning and ending of each yoga session. it is disturbing to me. His pictures should be removed from everywhere. There should be a sign outdoors to warn that Vishnu devananda's pictures still are hanging on the walls that is a big NO NO for anybody looking for inner peace, which is the sole purpose of yoga. Feeling safe and I think more respect should be shown towards the victims. Nobody wants to venerate ''JAI'' a predator. So very sad because I love the place but it's hard to dissociate the negative from the positive.

The Gift
At first I found the routine quite difficult, but like other retreats, I was settled in by day two. Fairly repetitive which is no coincidence. I was lucky enough to have 5 days there and even though the huge hours put in daily and the five thirty wake up, I had far more energy than usual. Call it prana? The food was excellent and the small group of friends I made had our daily ritual of a noon sauna. The staff were focused and open, some more than others but on the whole, a good team. The last Friday morning yoga class was devine in the fall air and first rays of sunshine. I intend to make this a yearly event. Nameste. 🙏
