About this Retreat
My name is Patrick (42). Three years ago, I left the Netherlands for Spain in search of more space, calm, and a different way of living.
After my student years in Tilburg, I moved to Amsterdam, where I worked as a sales manager at a startup. In 2016, we successfully sold the company to an American-Canadian firm, and I stayed on for two more years. Professionally things were going well, but personally I struggled with addiction. After two clinical admissions, I knew in 2021 that something had to change.
I took a sabbatical and spent a year living near the forests of Amerongen. That period became the foundation of my recovery. It showed me how powerful your environment can be when you’re trying to rebuild your life.
Not long after, I moved to Spain and found Villa Torrent, a small countryside property near Valencia. I started over here with my dog Guus. Today there are three dogs and eight chickens, and a slower, more grounded way of life.
Through daily walks, simple routines, healthy food, and time in nature, I discovered what truly supports my recovery. Villa Torrent became my home, and gradually it also became a place where others could come to slow down and reset.
The property includes my house and several small guest cottages. Over time, I began hosting small retreats and groups. What stood out to me was how quickly people found peace here—not through strict programs, but through nature, simplicity, and genuine connection.
That experience led to the creation of Sober Retreats Valencia: a small, supportive place for people in recovery who need space, structure, and a change of environment.
I’m not a therapist or a clinic. I’m a host who shares a place and a rhythm of life that helped me rebuild my own.
Holder of a professional certificate in sports coaching and a Yoga Alliance certification. Personal training, rehabilitation or group muscle strengthening classes, cardio, stretching, Pilates and yoga are the main focus of Anaïs' practice for functional maintenance, relaxation, and well-being. After her first two years of practice as a sports coach, she decided to follow her childhood dream and travel to India. She landed in Rishikesh, the world’s capital of yoga, to complete her yoga teacher training in Rishikesh Yogpeeth. Helping you take care of yourself is her greatest motivation.

Villa Torrent is a small countryside retreat near Valencia, created for people in recovery who want to land again—away from noise, pressure, and temptation. No large groups, no strict programmes, and no pressure to “fix yourself.” Instead, you’ll find nature, simple routines, nourishing food, and a small group of people who understand what recovery feels like.
This retreat is suitable for different stages of recovery:
Early recovery
If you’ve recently quit and are waiting for treatment or support, this is a place to build healthy routines in a calm, non-clinical environment.
Longer in recovery
If your battery feels empty, this retreat offers space to slow down, reconnect with nature, and spend time with like-minded people—without needing to explain everything.
After a relapse
Not as punishment, but as a fresh start. Step out of your usual environment and return to the basics: sleep, movement, nature, simple food, and clarity.
Reflection and maintenance
Recovery needs regular check-ins. This retreat offers time for reflection, renewed energy, and gentle structure.
What a typical day looks like

Quiet mornings or an optional walk with the dogs
Healthy breakfast together
Daily scenic walk or light hike in nature
Shared home-cooked lunch
Free time to rest, read, or relax by the pool
Yoga, fitness, or meditation sessions (several times per week)
Optional reflection and sharing circles
Relaxed evenings and simple dinners together
On some days, we also organise:
Beach walks by the Mediterranean
A visit to Valencia city with tapas lunch
A day trip to the waterfalls of Anna
Everything is optional. Joining is welcome, resting is too.
The group is small (maximum five guests), which creates a safe, personal atmosphere where you can truly slow down and reset.

Directions
We will pick you up from Valencia Airport. If you travel by train or bus the metrostation Torrent Avinguda is the pickup point.
Accommodation
Villa Torrent has 2 casa´s for guests of the retreat. Both are lovely decorated and contains of good bedding with high quality mattresses. Casa Elja has 2 private bedrooms with a bathroom, kitchen, living room and garden with nice view on the hills. Casa Rosa has 2 private bedrooms with ensuite showers and a shared bedroom with ensuite shower.
