About this Retreat
Camilo, hailing from the vibrant city of Medellín, Colombia, infuses our retreats with a profound connection to indigenous traditions, songs, and prayers. As a philosopher and trained psychotherapist, he has undergone transformative training in Compassionate Inquiry with Gabor Maté and explored the realms of consciousness through the Psychonaut approach with Stanislav Grof. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Psychology at Miguel Hernández University, Camilo uniquely marries his academic expertise with a deep understanding of traditional plant medicines.
During our retreats, he shares his wisdom, vibrant energy, and passion for yoga and holistic practices. Camilo’s presence creates a harmonious blend of therapeutic insight and ancient wisdom, enriching the retreat experience at La Mezquita. Join us to experience the transformative power of his guidance and the healing embrace of traditional knowledge.
Leon, a young but highly talented psychedelic enthusiast from Germany, has developed a deep passion for the healing power of plant medicine, particularly mushrooms. As an experienced cultivator, Leon combines his hands-on knowledge with his role as a musician during ceremonies. His soulful performances—playing instruments and singing—create a soothing atmosphere that enhances the ceremonial experience.
Over the past year, Leon has been intensively training as a psychedelic facilitator at La Mezquita, honing his techniques through hands-on guidance and immersive learning. His approach is rooted in sensitivity, careful observation, and a natural ability to create safe, supportive spaces for guests. Through his training, Leon has developed an intuitive understanding of psychedelic journeys, integrating both traditional practices and modern therapeutic insights to offer deep support and care during the retreats.
Miriam is a vibrant and compassionate facilitator dedicated to guiding personal growth and healing through psychedelics. With a Bachelor's and Master's in psychology, she combines modern psychological research with the therapeutic power of plant medicine to help individuals reconnect with their true selves. Her experience spans learning and development, mental health coaching, and working with people with disabilities, giving her a uniquely inclusive and empathetic approach.
Miriam enriches the retreats by her love for music—she often brings joy to sessions by playing the ukulele and singing, using music as a tool for emotional release and connection. Deeply committed to mental health, she offers a safe and supportive environment where participants can explore their inner worlds, heal, and embark on transformative journeys.
Details of this retreat
Psychedelics are at the forefront of psychological research, providing effective means to address depression, anxiety, and addiction, boost creativity, challenge existing thought patterns, and explore life’s purpose. They allow for the exploration of altered states of consciousness, empowering individuals to realize they can shape their own reality.
At La Mezquita, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment for profound inner experiences, combining techniques from yogic philosophy and modern psychological research.
Outdoor Psilocybin/ San Pedro Retreat:
This one-day Magic Mushroom and San Pedro retreat is designed for those with limited time, focusing on a powerful, nature-immersed experience. This ceremony takes place in the mountains, surrounded by beautiful, serene landscapes. Participants can fully embrace the connection to nature during the journey. However, if preferred, we offer the option to conduct the ceremony indoors upon request. Integration sessions, accommodation or a Yoga Session can also be arranged separately.
Psilocybin Psychotherapy:
Our approach follows the adapted methodology from Johns Hopkins and Imperial College, adjusted for an outdoor setting. Participants can relax and connect with nature while live music from our musicians enriches the journey. Our trained psychologists will be present throughout to provide support.
Group Size:
We keep our groups small (max 6 participants) to ensure a personalized and meaningful experience. Check out reviews from past participants to learn about their experiences.
Dosage:
Dosages are carefully tailored to each participant based on their needs, health, body weight, experience, and desired journey depth. We use Psilocybin cubensis mushrooms, known for their higher psilocybin content compared to truffles. Dosage discussions are part of our one-on-one consultations before the retreat. During the consultation we will discuss if a Psilocybin, San Pedro or a mix of both if the best fit for your individual needs.
Mental Health Consultations:
We begin with a screening call to understand your health situation, answer any questions, and discuss your intentions. Please fill out the following form for that: https://forms.gle/f3wcGUHGAEKdSzTp7. Upon arrival, you'll have a private session with our facilitators to set the right mindset and address any concerns. Our team, with trained psychologists, offers integration sessions on request.
Community Living at La Mezquita:
La Mezquita is the headquarters of Spain’s first psychedelic society, La Sociedad Psicodélica. Originally a Moroccan restaurant, it has retained its authentic charm and evolved into a communal space for artists, musicians, yogis, and mental health specialists. Located just 100 meters from a sandy beach and 20 minutes from the mountains, it offers a spacious common area, a sea-view terrace, outdoor fire space, and artistic surroundings.
Medication Recommendations:
We advise participants to discontinue antidepressants or other psychiatric medications (SSRIs, SPARIs, SNRIs, TCAs, MAOIs) before the retreat, as they can lessen the effects of psychedelics. For fluoxetine (Prozac), taper off at least six weeks before the retreat. Always consult your doctor before adjusting any prescribed medication.
Safety Restrictions:
For safety reasons, we cannot accept participants who:
1. Have been diagnosed with an emotionally unstable (borderline) personality disorder.
2. Have a history of psychosis (including drug-induced psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder) or are currently taking antipsychotic medication.
Other Recommendations:
Take time before and after the retreat for preparation and reflection. Give yourself space to integrate your experience before heading home.
Reservation and Cancellation Policy:
A 50% deposit is required to secure your spot. The deposit is refundable if the retreat is canceled by the organization or if you cancel at least seven days prior to the retreat. The remaining balance is payable upon arrival.
