# 11-Day Yoga, Culture & Wildlife Retreat in Tanzania

Join us for an unforgettable 11-day journey through Tanzania, combining daily yoga, breathtaking nature, authentic cultural experiences and wildlife.

From the tropical waters of Chemka Hot Springs to the lush Usambara Mountains and the wild landscapes of Mkomazi National Park, this retreat is designed to give you the space to slow down, reconnect and experience Tanzania beyond the typical tourist trail.

## A Journey Through Tanzania

Our journey begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where we will pick you up and make our way towards Moshi. Along the way, we’ll stop at Chemka Hot Springs for a refreshing swim before spending our first night in Moshi.

The following day, we continue through the Maasai plains towards the Usambara Mountains and our home for the next part of the retreat: Uvi House & Restaurant.

Nestled in the mountains, Uvi House offers a peaceful setting surrounded by nature and beautiful views. It is also a place where you can connect more closely with the local community and experience Tanzanian hospitality.

## Yoga in Nature

Yoga is an important part of our retreat, with morning and evening practices throughout the journey.

Start your days with yoga surrounded by the mountain landscape and finish with sunset practices as the light changes over the Usambara Mountains.

During the safari portion of the retreat, we’ll also practice yoga within Mkomazi National Park, surrounded by the unique landscape of the park.

The practices are designed to complement the experiences of each day — sometimes energising, sometimes grounding and sometimes simply creating space to pause and take it all in.

## Explore the Usambara Mountains

The days at Uvi House are a chance to explore the landscape and connect with the local community.

We’ll hike through villages and cliffs to visit a local healer, explore the rainforest, visit a pottery cooperative and take part in a traditional cooking workshop with a local Mama.

There will also be a visit to an organic coffee plantation and the local market in Mambo, giving you the opportunity to experience different aspects of everyday life in the region.

And there is time built into the retreat to simply relax. You can enjoy the surroundings, rest between activities or book a 60-minute Ayurveda or Shiatsu massage.

## Giving Back

One of the days is dedicated to the Uvi Foundation for Education.

You can choose how you would like to contribute — whether that means planting a tree, tutoring children, playing sports or sharing another skill that could support education in the Usambara Mountains.

Participation is flexible and can be for the whole day or for just one hour between 09:00 and 17:00, depending on your interests and availability.

## Into the Wild: Mkomazi National Park

Towards the end of our journey, we leave the mountains and travel to Mkomazi National Park.

We’ll spend two nights in bandas within the park and experience the area on safari.

A full day will be dedicated to exploring Mkomazi, with a morning and afternoon safari and a visit to the rhino sanctuary.

Mkomazi offers a different perspective of Tanzania’s wildlife and landscapes, and this part of the retreat brings together adventure, nature and stillness in a completely different setting.

## A Retreat With Purpose

This experience is about more than yoga or sightseeing.

By staying at Uvi House, you are supporting a local business and contributing to employment opportunities within the community. The retreat also gives you the opportunity to experience local food, traditions, crafts and everyday life in a more personal way.

We want to create a journey where you don't simply visit Tanzania, but have the opportunity to connect with its landscapes, people and culture.
