About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Kate McCabe is the founder of Pixan Sanctuary and an experienced plant medicine facilitator specializing in Bufo Alvarius. With over seven years of experience and involvement in more than 2,000 ceremonies, she has dedicated much of her life to exploring the therapeutic potential of plant medicine and the importance of providing a safe, ethical, and supportive environment for profound personal transformation.

Her journey with plant medicine began in 2017, followed by five years of intensive apprenticeship, mentorship, and hands-on experience. She went on to co-found Sacred Heart Sonora, where she spent seven years working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including veterans and those navigating trauma, addiction, depression, and other mental health challenges. During this time, Sacred Heart Sonora also contributed to scientific research and medical studies exploring the therapeutic potential of 5-MeO helping bridge the gap between traditional ceremonial practices and emerging psychedelic science.

Kate holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona and is currently working toward obtaining her professional title as a psychologist in Mexico. Her approach combines a strong foundation in psychology with extensive experience in traditional plant medicine practices, emphasizing ethical facilitation, thoughtful preparation, and meaningful integration.

After seven years with Sacred Heart Sonora, Kate founded Pixan Sanctuary, a private healing sanctuary nestled in the Mayan jungle outside Tulum, Mexico. Surrounded by nature and home to a private cenote, Pixan represents the evolution of her work toward a more intimate, intentional, and therapeutically informed approach to plant medicine.

Her vision is to create a space where ancestral wisdom and modern psychological understanding can coexist, offering individuals not simply a ceremonial experience, but the time, guidance, and supportive environment needed to explore profound experiences and carry their insights into everyday life.
