About The Teacher

Born and raised in between Mexico and California, Gisella has always been in touch with nature, a woman of the earth. After concluding her College Studies on Tourism she moved to Tepoztlán, a magic town in Mexico, where she began to practice bio-dynamic and organic agriculture at "La Casa en Las Nubes" an Eco-Center for sustainable living that she Co-created. At a very young age she felt the call to be a guardian of the earth, her passion for nature has inspired her to be an activist, making projects to rise awareness, she is the founder of The Organic Market of Tepoztlán and created the Trade Circle. It was not very long after she began her studies with herbal medicine and aromatherapy. Gisella has many gifts to share, she has been studying the therapeutic use of clay, her cultural background and lineage propelled  her to perform rituals and sweat lodges. Well-known for her style she designs head wear and accessories, she also makes her performing outfits, and her most recent interests are Ayurveda, Nutrition and Alchemy.

Gisella is a dancer among other activities of her life, dancing is what makes her truly free, she dances to express, to release and to connect with her physical and emotional body. Dancing is her divine connection to the spirit, she is a Dakini dancing the sacred spiral. Movement has become a bliss in her life since she started getting involved in liquid dance, contact improv and ecstatic dance. She is now seeking to bring forth a new way of transformational dance session to reconnect with the emotional body.

From a young age she developed a great taste for music and dance, which made her explore different types of dance like Hawaiian, Belly Dance, Tribal, Temple Dance, Oddissi, Kalbelya and African Dance. Despite all the types of dance she explored, she has never been inclined to devote to any particular style nor she has any special techniques. With inspirations and spiritual practices such as Native Traditions, Tantra, Temple Arts, Red Tent, Shamanism, Tai chi and Qi gong she fused all her elements to create a Ritual Performance to a Prayer Dance.

Gisella has been traveling for many years working on Festival Production, Retreat Centers, Living on Sustainable Communities, Performing and Learning.

She went back to her home town after the loss of her mother, where she began to focus on spiritual practices, she was initiated on the Mahamudra Teachings and Anuttara Tantra Yoga, she also became an Oneironaut practitioner alongside Reiki, Tai chi and Qi gong.

With the help of spiritual practices, healing arts and knowledge, she invoked the power of the serpent within to help her transmute all pain, and channeled "The Ritual of the Serpent" as her own medicine.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I teach yoga part time and am a mom of two toddlers full time. I love my life, but goodness do I need a break. My husband and I have been putting off our wedding ceremony for 4 years because life has gotten in the way. We haven't had a single night alone since our family has grown. I wouldn't change a thing about our lives now, but it would be so wonderful to remember what it's like to 'just be us.' Antrim

Retreat Guru's Vision

We believe human beings are innately wise, strong and kind. This wisdom, although not always experienced, is always present. Going on retreat is a beautiful way to reconnect to our basic sanity and health. Our aspiration at Retreat Guru is to inspire people to experience authentic retreats and reconnect with their innate wisdom, strength and kindness.
