David and Sandra

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Colombian Medicine Keepers | Founders of Casa de Medicina Villa Wayra
David and Sandra are Colombian medicine keepers and curanderos whose work is rooted in
decades of relationship with yagé, traditional plant medicine, ritual, nature and service.
David has worked with ayahuasca, or yagé, for more than 25 years. His path began in
Putumayo, in the Colombian Amazon, where he apprenticed alongside taitas and learned
traditional approaches to ceremony and plant medicine. He is also a gifted musician and artist,
weaving music deeply into the ceremonial space.

Sandra has walked this path alongside him since 2008, bringing her own relationship with
plants, botany, natural medicine, women’s work and ritual. She has a grounded, intentional way
of creating ceremonial spaces that feel deeply human.
Together, they founded Casa de Medicina Villa Wayra in Barichara, Colombia — a space
devoted to ancestral medicine, nature, music, art and service.
We first met David and Sandra over a decade ago through our own journey with this work, and
had the opportunity to learn from them personally. What stayed with us was not only the depth
of their experience, but their warmth, groundedness, devotion to service and the way they walk
this path together.

There is something very special to us about this retreat being held by two couples who have
each chosen to walk this path together, both in relationship and in service.
We feel deeply honoured to have David and Sandra with us in Mexico, helping to hold the
ceremonial heart of this retreat.
