About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Tammy Quinn (Vimala Devi) began her practice of Yoga in 2008 and quickly realized that Yoga was more than physical exercise. Her love for Yoga led her to take the 200 hour “Life of a Yogi” teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2011, giving her a solid foundation to build upon. She is a 200 hour certified Dharma Yoga Instructor in her 11th year of teaching. Dharma Yoga is a graceful yet challenging practice based on Sri Dharma Mittra’s 50 years of classical yoga teachings. Vimala found Ananda Ashram in 2013 with a passion to continue studying Asana, Yoga-Vedanta Philosophy and Meditation. She was given the name Vimala in 2017 by one of the Ashram’s founding members, the late Joan Suval. Vimala has recently completed a 300 hour Yoga Alliance Certification and is now designated as a 500RYT and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Her classes incorporate harmonium and mantra chanting, asana (poses), pranayama (breathing techniques), dharana (concentration) and the fundamental principals of Yoga.
