Etienne Peirsman

Etienne Peirsman came to CranioSacral Therapy in a non-traditional fashion. After a staph infection left him with nearly 20% kidney function in his 30s, he found that preparing to die brought him the clarity of total silence. In a remarkable turn of events, he was able to heal his own body, which led him to travel and find Cranio during an immersive meditation and bodywork training. From this time, Cranio became his life’s passion.
Etienne studied Cranio Sacral Therapy (CS) both in India and with Dr J. Upledger personally for almost 10 years at the Upledger Institute in Florida. He integrates the bio-mechanical teaching of Dr Upledger within his own meditative bio-dynamic approach. His work encompasses the evolution from bio-mechanical (Upledger) to bio-dynamic (Sutherland) CS.
He started teaching CS in 1990. Over the years, he founded the  Peirsman CranioSacral School in the Netherlands, originated the CranioSacral Professional Organization in Holland, and is an honorary member of The Dutch CranioSacral Practitioner Association. These days, Etienne is heading up the Peirsman Craniosacral Academy in the USA and teaches Brain Masterclasses all over the world.
In addition, Etienne is the author of the book 'Craniosacral Therapy for babies and small children' together with his wife Neeto, published by North Atlantic Books in 2006. He has also written about 50 papers on CS and Meditation (in Dutch language in the magazine The Dura) and soon, his new book ‘Tantric aspects of CS’ will be published.
