Dr Jet Eveleth

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Dr. Jet Eveleth teaches at the crossroads of mindfulness, presence, and mischief. Her work offers a fresh perspective on how embarrassment, play, and humor can be our fastest entry points to spiritual awakening.

Her career began on the road, where she first fell in love with improvisation while touring with The Second City, which ultimately led to her role as a clown in the cirque show Absinthe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Afterward, a stretch of working in television left her feeling disconnected and lost, prompting a search for meaning that took her somewhere comedians usually do not go. She studied breathwork in the Pyrenees with Wim Hof and meditation with Eckhart Tolle, eventually earning her doctorate in Integrative Medicine, becoming a professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and completing her postgraduate work on meditation at Harvard Medical School.

Along this path, she discovered that her journey into the healing arts led her right back to the one thing she has always loved: clowning around. The final result of her experiences is a specialized practice that treats laughter as medicine and play as a path home.

Today, she blends somatic medicine with the art of physical play through her practice, Sacred Clown. She teaches people how to drop out of their analytical, anxious minds and back into their bodies to heal isolation and shame.

She is faculty at Esalen Institute and her work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, Slate and New York Magazine.
