Andres Pedroso, AKA 'Oñiokan'
Andrés is the heart-and-honey of Salsa Bliss, as his Yoruba name suggests, Oñiokan. He is a professional all-terrain Cuban dancer and dance instructor, with wide experience in all aspects of the dance showbiz: dancing, choreography, artistic direction, dancers’ training, costume design, video & sound editing.
Since 2018 Andrés has run his own Dance project, Oñiokan Danza. First it was based in Havana and now it is on itinerant mode. The project features dance teaching, dance show productions, as well as the organization of Performing Arts Expeditions to Cuba.
As Dance instructor in Barbados, Andrés has collaborated with institutions such as The University of the West Indies, Codrington International School, PowerHouse Studios, and Praise Academy of Dance, teaching different dance forms to children, teenagers, and adults (Ballet, Jazz, Cuban Modern, Acrodance, Cuban Cabaret, Salsa, Rumba, Mambo, Chachachá, Latin Fusion).
In Cuba he has worked at Salsabor-a-Cuba Dance School, Havana, and has performed as Professional Show Dancer in many Cabaret Theatres in Varadero, such as Roc Barlovento, Riu, Iberostar, Cabaret Continental, Cabaret Tropicana, and Superclub Breezes Jibacoa.
Andrés holds his National Show Dancer Diploma from the Cuban High Education Institute for Culture and the Antonio María Romero Dance School of Havana.
Oñiokan also worked for 4 years with Haarmony Dancers of Mobay, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Salsa Bliss signals Oñiokan’s present stage of his dancing life journey, finding wholeness in oneself and one’s circumstances and sharing this constellation of dance and bliss with others.
