About the Teacher
Why study with them?
I first tried yoga at my local gym more than 25 years ago and was surprised at how calm I felt after a session, different than a dance or exercise class. I was curious and quickly hooked! A few years later, I attended one of the first Summer Solstice Yoga Celebrations in Times Square, NYC. It was my first visit to New York City to visit my son, and he said yes when I asked him to go to this outdoor yoga class with thousands of strangers in the middle of the busiest street in the nation maybe—cleared for us, we spread our mats on asphalt, and during that session, we could hear each other breathe, and sounds of traffic felt like a river flow. I was touched by the energy and the focused breath all those people around me, all races, genders and ages. I wanted to help others to feel this sense of being and belonging— of community in the breath.
My passion for how I practice mindful movement has changed over the years, but my commitment to leading others in ways that increase flow, energy and joy in their bodies and lives is the same.
I started my yoga teacher training in 2006, completed my 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification, then completed a 300-hour advanced yoga certification in 2020, specializing in sustainable yoga for brain and body health. I have nearly 20 years of teaching kids to seniors, with advanced 50 hour in-person training in yin yoga teaching, trauma-informed yoga, brain dance, senior chair yoga, mindful meditation, qi gong, and yoga for kids.
I am infinitely grateful to teach at community centers, yoga studios and online to hundreds of students, and so happy to bring my earth-based yoga practice to Indralaya, with a celebration of spring, and a renewal of heart, mind and body.
