Why study with them?
Mark Henderson is a student of Tarthang Tulku Rinpoche. Since 1975, Mark has assisted Tarthang Rinpoche in the original construction of the Odiyan Retreat Center, as well as the construction of the Odiyan Vajra Temple. In addition, Mark has participated in the Nyingma Monlam Chenmo in Bodh Gaya, India, seven times. For twenty years Mark played an instrumental role in Rinpoche’s creation of over 100,000 handheld prayer wheels for distribution to the Nyingma Sangha at Bodh Gaya, as well as sacred empowerments and large prayer wheels for Odiyan. These include the sacred prayer wheels installed at the Vajra Temple, Cintamani Temple, Vairochana Garden, and the monumental and historic Walking Mandala of Odiyan. In his professional life, Mark was a practicing attorney for 20 years, recognized by the California State Bar as a certified specialist in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law. In the nonprofit sector, he served as both a Board Director and as an Executive Director of a community organization serving the elderly in Davis, California. After considerable training, Mark presently teaches classes in Tibetan Language, Tibetan Chanting, and Buddhist Studies at the Nyingma Institute in Berkeley, California. He thoroughly enjoys and adores his two children and one grandchild.
