About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Holger Yeshe was born in Nürnberg, Germany and began practicing Buddhism in 1999. Since then, he has studied and practiced in both the Theravada and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. In 2005, he met his main teacher, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche and in 2010 was ordained as a Buddhist monk under his tutelage, remaining ordained for fifteen years. During two decades of study and practice, he became proficient in Tibetan language and now serves as primary interpreter for Khenpo Kunga, Mingyur Rinpoche’s main Khenpo.

In 2016 he returned to Europe and currently helps co-direct Tergar Meditation Community e.V., a non-profit organization in Germany. He splits his time between facilitating meditation seminars, interpreting, editing course material for Tergar International, personal retreat, and various other projects.

Seeing the benefits of meditation practice in his own life and those around him, he has a particular interest in making meditation widely available and in the intersection between the meditative tradition and western scientific modes of inquiry. Since 2019, he has served as a planning committee member of Mind and Life Summer Research Institute.
