About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Clarena is a Colombian physician whose path in medicine has been shaped by two worlds: the rigorous training of Western clinical practice and the deep wisdom of ancestral healing traditions rooted in her homeland.
Born and raised in Colombia, Clarena grew up with an innate respect for the sacred medicines of her land. Her connection to these traditions is not academic. It is personal, cultural, and carried in her roots. She believes that ancestral medicines hold a profound capacity for healing, and that honouring them with both reverence and safety is essential.
As a physician, Clarena has trained in emergency medicine and toxicology, and has worked in some of the most demanding environments on earth. She spent years with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) providing frontline medical care in South Sudan and Kenya, where she learned to hold steady in moments of intensity, to trust the process, and to be fully present with people in their most vulnerable states.
At retreat, Clarena’s role is simple: to hold the medical safety so that participants, facilitators, and the medicine can do their work without worry. She is there as a quiet, capable, caring presence. Someone who understands both what the body may need and what the spirit is going through.
She is not there to medicalize the experience. She is there to protect it.
