Healing that feels like coming home.
Libélula is a healing and retreat center set across forty-eight hectares of mountain jungle in Costa Rica. Cabins, ceremony spaces, a spa, yoga shala, waterfalls, and river pools are spread throughout the land, with a maximum of twelve guests at a time, each supported with dedicated care.
We offer a range of retreats, trainings, and immersive experiences, including plant medicine work, yoga retreats, vipassana, women's retreats, and teacher trainings. Our approach weaves together different practices, teachings, and healing modalities, from traditional medicine to movement, bodywork, and integrative therapies.
The name Libélula means dragonfly. An insect that spends much of its life underwater before emerging, transformed into flight. That journey mirrors what happens here. Guests arrive as themselves and leave changed. This is metamorphosis.
Alongside our plant medicine retreats, we host a growing range of non-plant medicine experiences rooted in healing, self-inquiry, and wellbeing.
How we work
This is not a center that hands you an experience and wishes you well.
Before you arrive, we get to know you. Your health, your history, your intentions. We have a screening process and don't accept everyone. Some conditions are not compatible with certain practices, and we take that seriously.
During your stay, every guest is supported throughout. Someone who knows your story and is there when things surface, day or night. Bodywork and other modalities are available to support the process, including during deeper work where appropriate. The entire team is trauma-informed.
After you leave, we stay connected. Integration calls, a community group, and access to a wider support network. What opens here matters most in how it's lived beyond the retreat.
The Huni Kuin
Our medicine carriers come from the Huni Kuin people of the Brazilian Amazon, carrying a rare feminine lineage passed through their grandmother.
Their work holds both depth and lightness: seriousness, but also joy, music, and celebration. Healing here is not only about what is released, but also what is remembered.
Their knowledge spans multiple medicines and practices, working with plants, energy, prayer, and traditional methods developed over generations.
The land
The center sits in the mountains, surrounded by jungle and flowing water. The air is fresh, and there's a kind of quiet that allows the body to slow down.
Forty-eight hectares of protected land. More than ten waterfalls. River pools for swimming and diving. Life everywhere you look.
Everything here has been built by local artisans using local wood, designed to exist as part of the natural landscape, evolving with it rather than replacing it.
Many guests feel the shift within hours. The nervous system settles. The breath deepens. The process often begins simply from being here.
The team
Everyone who holds space at Libélula has walked through their own process: addiction, grief, illness, years of searching for something deeper.
That lived experience is what allows them to support others in a grounded, steady way.
Our practitioners work at an international level. Our facilitators have supported hundreds of retreats and ceremonies. The Huni Kuin bring generations of ancestral knowledge.
But beyond credentials, what people feel most is something simple: warmth, care, and a genuine sense of family.
Integration
The experience doesn't end when you leave.
Preparation begins before arrival, with calls, guidance, and support. We also offer a session for loved ones, so they understand how to support you.
After your stay, your facilitator remains available. You'll have access to a group space, ongoing integration calls, and connections to therapists if needed.
This is where the real change takes root.
Land protection
Selected retreat tiers include the protection of a quarter acre of rainforest in your name, along with a tree planted and certificate.
We are working to protect additional surrounding land. Each booking contributes to that vision, where personal healing and environmental restoration are connected.
Who this is for
This work is for those who feel called to go deeper, whether through stillness, movement, ceremony, or self-inquiry.
We welcome people from all walks of life, and meet you where you are with care, safety, and respect for your process.
