Hello, my name is Goku, and I am honored to share this journey of self-discovery and inner transformation with you. With over 20 years of dedicated practice, I see yoga and meditation as profound tools for personal alchemy; pathways to mastery, resilience, and becoming our highest selves.
My foundation is deeply rooted in martial arts, beginning with Tang Soo Do and expanding into Taekwondo, Karate, and Shaolin Kung Fu. My path led me to China, where I spent three years as a Shaolin monk, immersed in the rich traditions of movement, discipline, and mindfulness-practices that closely intertwine with the essence of yoga.
Before my monastic journey, I trained in Bikram and Ashtanga Yoga, later shifting my focus toward a more holistic and traditional approach to the practice. After leaving monkhood, I navigated a new chapter-joining the military, starting a family, and continuing to teach and practice yoga. However, a significant injury in 2014 during deployment brought me to a profound turning point, leading me through deep challenges and ultimately reaffirming yoga and meditation as my guiding light back to balance and harmony.
In 2018, I reignited my practice with a renewed purpose, training in multiple yoga disciplines and completing my 200HR YTT in 2022. My journey has evolved beyond the physical postures, delving into the spiritual roots of yoga, meditation, and breathwork. I am deeply passionate about resilience-based growth and integrating ancient wisdom into modern life.
I am the owner of Sacred Leap Yoga & Wellness Center and New Earth Wellness Ltd., offering yoga and other holistic healing forms (Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, etc.). I also teach Yoga, Health, Personal Fitness, and Life Skills at a private school for grades 6-12, 1-on-1, and customized for academic and individual journeys. When I'm not living through, practicing, or teaching yoga, I am with my family spending time with them in various and beautiful adventures.
As we come together in this retreat, my intention is to create a space for reflection, expansion, and inner peace. Through breath, stillness, and movement, we will explore the depths of meditation and cultivate a sense of harmony within ourselves and the world around us. I look forward to sharing this experience with you.
