Never Disappoints
I have attended 2 retreats at ECA, in April 2017 and January 2020.
I found my self at ECA originally for med resistant clinical depression, anxiety and chronic inflammation. My second time there I was looking for physical healing as well as spiritual growth. Both experiences changed my life and moved me forward on my path.
During my stays, I could not have asked for a better place to heal and grow. The medicine is strong, the healers are available and attentive, the food and staff make you feel like family and the facilitators, Bobby and Jesse, are amazing in and out of ceremonies.
I appreciate the attention shown to tradition, and the time the healers, Bobby, Jesse and the staff put in to make everyone feel like family and welcome. At some retreats, it is impossible to find the healers for a personal consultation - but here they make it a point to understand why you are there and answer any questions or concerns that come up.
Contrary to a previous review I read, both times I have attended this center the other participants have been mostly middle-aged and older - and a few younger people who were there for their own healing. Part of what I enjoy most about ECA (over other places I have attended) is the community. The conversation is enlightening and I learn from each and every person who found themselves there at the same time as I. Many of them I maintain contact with today.
The grounds are beautiful and offer many places to find solitude and peace, including the private rooms if that's what you choose. The food is healthy, filling, delicious and served with love.
The medicine is the strongest I have had (I have participated elsewhere too) and always leads me right where I need to go. My (our) job is to trust the process and the medicine without resistance and be ready to figure out how to move forward with the given journey.
I appreciate Bobby and Jesse very much - as well as the rest of their family/staff. It is important to feel safe during such experiences - and I have felt that in every ceremony I have attended there. I am not sure how they do it - but someone is always there when they are needed. I have seen other places that do not assist one outside of the maloka - but here they do. It is nice to know someone is paying attention and will be there if I'm unable to care for myself as needed.
I would recommend ECA to anyone interested in healing and growing with the sacred medicines in a traditional way while feeling supported, loved and cared for. Another bonus is the conversation with them does not end after the retreat - they maintain the connection to help any way the can after getting back home. This is a place I will continue visiting for as long as the medicine calls. I look forward to seeing what they do with their new location!
