About this Retreat
The Founder: Doron Hanoch
Doron Hanoch is a Certified 550 hour teacher (ERYT), Director of the Doron Yoga School (RYS 200 & 500), Founder and CEO of the Doron Yoga & Zen Center at beautiful Lake Atitlan, Guatemala.
He first discovered yoga and meditation in 1992 while traveling in the Far East. Since then he has studied with amazing teachers including the Dalai Lama, Pattabhi Jois and his family, Richard Freeman (teacher training, advanced trainings and assisting), Tim Miller (3rd Series teacher training), Mark Stephens (Vinyasa teacher training, continuing studies and mentoring), Adarsh, Shashadri, Rolf and Marci, and Cidananda.
Doron loves growing food, cooking and eating. He studied cooking at The Natural Gourmet Institute for Health and the Culinary Arts in New York City. He complimented cooking with becoming a Holistic nutrition consultant from The Global College of Natural Medicine and studies permaculture at the Occidental Center for the Arts in Sonoma, CA. He worked for Pure Foods and Wine in New York City, volunteered in the kitchens of many Ashrams and Zen centers as well as worked as a cook and chef at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA.

Directions
The Doron Yoga & Zen Center is located in Tzununa at Lake Atitlan. We work with local travel agencies/shuttle companies to help provide you transportation from the airport and to other major centers of tourism in Guatemala. Shuttles run to and from the nearby town of Panajachel or directly to the center. We offer help with arranging private shuttles. The shuttles can pick you up from addresses in zones 1, 9, 10 and 13 and the airport.
We also help with private shuttles from Antigua.
Accommodation
You will be accommodated at Atitlan Eco Retreat. The rooms are beautiful, artistic, and charming. All accommodations are eco-friendly, built for comfort and safety, and have comfortable beds, traditional bed covers, windows, and a mix of local and Western styles. Many rooms have original art hanging or painted on the wall. It is a very special experience. Showers have hot water.
Casa Lotus 2 / Feliz 3 - Shared Space: We have two lovely and spacious dormitories that sleep 5 to 6 people and share the bathroom area. They have nice beds with local traditional Mayan bed covers, nightstands, shelves, and other storage places. They emanate a rustic, cozy arts feeling.
Casa Feliz 1 and 2 / Lotus 1-Shared Space: We have three private rooms with shared bathrooms. These rooms are unique and have their own wall-painted art. There are 3 toilets, 2 showers, and 2 sinks, separate from one another, so there is never a wait time.
You can maybe shared with a female or male.
Casa Amor: We have three beautiful cabins with ensuite bathrooms, a little deck with hammocks and chairs, a lawn in front, gardens, and gorgeous lake views. Special rooms with a unique creative energy. Bathrooms have locally sourced slate for the showers, hand-carved mirrors, and bamboo and wood elements throughout the room. Rooms are dry-walled for client comfort and keeping them sealed. Local hand-crafted furniture and orthopedic beds are brilliant additions for superb comfort.
Casa Ananda: Deluxe rooms with en-suite bathrooms, original artwork, slate showers, a deck with hammocks, a garden and some lake views. Roof top for Spanish classes and chill out when not in use. Unique mixture of modern, boutique eco-chic comfort with an artsy vibe.

Casa Ananda has stunning lake views, hammocks, and each room has it's own private bathroom with slate showers, hot water, and hand-carved mirrors. Unique art and authentic Mayan textiles add a unique creative energy to the space.
Garden Doubles
Enjoy a garden level room, with windows to catch the breeze, and interior murals to inspire. These rooms have either a double bed or two twin beds perfect for friends or couples. The bathrooms have a fun, outdoorsy feel and feature two hot-water showers, three toilets, and two sinks.
We cannot guarantee the gender of whom you might share your room with.
Feliz and Lotus Dorms
Like all the rooms on the property, these rooms feature beautiful custom art, and a design that is eco-friendly as well as aesthetic. The interior is a mix of local and Western styles, with traditional bed coverings. These room each have 5-6 single beds, individual safes, and comfortable mattresses. They have access to a shared bathroom with two hot-water showers, three toilets, and two sinks.
