About this Retreat
Cat was born in Yorkshire, UK but has spent the last ten years living and working across Asia and currently rooted in Granada, Spain. She first came across yoga through the form of Bhakti (devotional chanting) in India in 2013. She went on to study traditional hatha yoga and now holds certificates in embodiment facilitation, yin yoga and reiki. Blending these expressive, sacred and therapeutic practices in community is her biggest love. Inspired by the natural world and her cycles, grounding in the mystical and mythical and nurturing our interbeing to those around us, Cat offers a space for somatic discovery where the focus is on the process over destination and honouring the wisdom each body holds.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, Kelsey is dedicated to harnessing her skills as a teacher and student who explores the space between movement and stillness, momentum and gravity, fixed and fluid, fight and surrender. She is a certified yoga & mobility teacher, aerobic dance instructor, and is also a practitioner of contemporary. Her intention is to convince her students of their innate strengths, that they can hold it all (with a sense of humor), and to remind them of their capacity to renew themselves and their experiences. She is currently studying a masters in Cooperación at the University of Granada, and hopes to one day bridge her work in politics and activism with movement and healing: the personal is political, we all have a story, and the body keeps the score.
Details of this retreat
Our signature retreat at the beloved Cortijo Casería del Mercado in Las Alpujarras.
El Cortijo Casería del Mercado is found in an isolated section of the Alpujarras- we will have the mountain to ourselves as we coexist on a self-sustaining farm. The expansive grounds are covered in flowers and vegetation, with gardens that will provide our daily meals. El Cortijo features a mineral water pool, open terraces, spacious common areas, and 2 shalas for yoga, meditation, and training. Accommodation is cosy and comfortable. There are endless opportunities for hiking and wandering in nature. The loudest noise... is the silence (& the peacocks!)
We will share daily yoga practices as well as embodied movement , dance, mantra, meditation and more.
There will also be opportunities for:
-Private massage and energy healing treatments
-Hiking in the infinite hectares of land- to the river, to the trees, or to the town of Cástaras
-Free time in communal spaces to swim, to read, to write, to rest and to use the natural sauna/temazcal
-Access to yoga shalas and outdoor space for independent practice
