About this Retreat
Your Guides
Tim started picking mushrooms at a very early age. While still riding in a backpack, he searched for chanterelles in the woods of Oregon with his father.
By the age of 12, he was picking mushrooms in selling them to the local grocery store.
Before graduating from Central Washington University he was already working as a mycologist in the school herbarium and studying with mycologist, Dr. David Hosford.
After college he went to work for Paul Stamets at Fungi Perfecti where he was introduced to mushroom cultivation. At this point in time, information about mycology was difficult to find and Tim was lucky enough to reside in Paul's yurt and have access to Paul's library of clandestine information.
Later, he continued studying taxonomy with David Hosford and acquired a new position as Pacific Northwest Regional Mycologist for the US Dept. of Agriculture.
His interest in mycology went further when he invested in a truffle farm that ultimately failed due to filbert blight.
After the truffiere, Tim found himself the proud stay-at-home father of two beautiful girls. Tim switched his focus from ecology, taxonomy and mycohizology and began to concentrate on mastering cooking wild mushrooms. This led to the creation of a cook book and him being included in the "Fantastic Fungi Community Cookbook" along with many other mycologists.

Treehouse Mycology Immersion where guests can learn about the fascinating world of fungi and walk away with a better understanding of how mushrooms make our world a better place.
Schedule
Day 1: Check-in. Tim will greet you once you're settled and do an intro to mycology that will last anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. Afterwards, you can partake in the recommended mycology readings and then enjoy the soaking tub and/or cedar sauna
Day 2: Light breakfast provided. You're free to enjoy your day. We can recommend local hikes, you can enjoy the lake that is right up the street. We will schedule a time for dinner and that is when we will deliver your mushroom charcuterie style dinner. Afterwards, Tim will provide another education or discussion session. From there, you're free to enjoy the outdoor shower/soaking tub and the cedar sauna.
Day 3: Checkout. Light breakfast provided. Tim will do one last education session with you.
Day 2: Light breakfast provided. You're free to enjoy your day. We can recommend local hikes, you can enjoy the lake that is right up the street. We will schedule a time for dinner and that is when we will deliver your mushroom charcuterie style dinner. Afterwards, Tim will provide another education or discussion session. From there, you're free to enjoy the outdoor shower/soaking tub and the cedar sauna.

Directions
Seattle-Tacoma international airport is the closest airport to our treehouse retreat. You will want to rent a car since there is no easy way to get to us using public transportation.

The treehouse will be your basecamp for your stay! Please note, the treehouse is behind our main house where we live, but rest assured you will have all of the privacy you need. The treehouse is hidden in the trees about 100 yards from our house. Our property is two acres total so there's plenty of privacy.

What's Not Included
