Liina

About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Liina has been curious about the mysteries of life and the human mind for as long as she can remember. She was drawn to philosophy and went on to study psychology and sociology in university.

After a while she felt all the theoretical knowledge disconnected and decided to see more of the world for herself. Since her late teens she had dreamt about volunteering for a project in Africa and at 21 she decided to take a gap year and joined an international program for teams of volunteers. This first took her travelling in Europe for several months in preparation and eventually to rural Kenya to volunteer in a small community center.

Later she continued with her studies but Africa had left a mark and she also started preparing for her next big destination – Latin America. She went to Spain as an exchange student to learn Spanish and social anthropology. By the time she was a master's student she took on another volunteer project, this time teaching English in a local highschool in a village up the mountains of Central Mexico. She fell in love with the land, its people and culture and has since returned there many times.

Having returned to her home country Estonia, and driven by a need to go beyond the hollow modern city lifestyle, Liina embarked on a more conscious spiritual journey. She started in Psychodrama, a creative action method that blends elements of theater and therapy to offer participants insight into their lives, first in therapy and later training to become a group leader herself. Always a lover of dance, she also took up regular therapeutic movement practice and tried out a number of other methods like breathwork, yoga and mindfulness. She is also a certified PREP Within My Reach trainer.

Liina started on the shamanic path in 2010 when a friend invited her to a ceremony with Arutam Ruyman. She instantly realised there was an unequalled honesty and truthfulness in him and his work. That same year she started translating in his ceremonies in Estonia and continues to do so to this day. Over the years she has continued to deepen her understanding of the sacred Tobacco, Natem and San Pedro cactus and has participated in countless ceremonies in different countries and several long retreats in the rainforest with Arutam Ruyman, including the Tunakaramamu and other rituals.

A people's person, she soon took to assisting others during the meditation process and also between ceremonies. She can support you through a difficult moment or help you gain insight to what is going on.
Fluent in four languages, she has been working with people from different backgrounds and also travelling to Latin America for more than 15 years. Liina is also a mother to one daughter.
