Directions
Additionally, we'd like to ensure your travel arrangements are seamless. If you need help organizing transfers from the airport, please let us know if you'd like us to coordinate this for you. There are several options to get from Lisbon to Portalegre;
Bus: There are several buses daily from Lisbon to Portalegre. The last one that gets you on time in Portalegre for the 19:00 welcome soup leaves the Lisbon bus station at 15:00, arriving in Portalegre at 18:45. The last bus of the day will leave in Lisbon at 19:00 and should get you in Portalegre at 21:45. We will come and pick you up from the bus station free of charge, its only a 5 minute drive from the bus station. There are shuttlebuses available at Lisbon airport that will bring you to the busstation (Sete Rios) in 10 minutes. Bus tickets cost less than €20,- one-way (depending on the time of purchase).
Train: There are daily trains from Lisbon, departing from several stations, towards Portalegre. However, Portalegre train station is located 15 minutes away from the city. The last train leaves Lisbon at 12:30 in the afternoon. Prices and travel time are comparable to the bus tickets, with buses being the more convenient option in my opinion.
Taxi: A private taxi will cost around €250,--300,- one-way. Prices will get cheaper as more people share a ride. If you would like to get a taxi let us know, so we can look if there are guests around the same time that would like to share a ride.
Car-rental: Renting a car is another good option that will give you some options to enjoy the beautiful ride towards Portalegre. There are several nice spots where you could take a break. Prices for a rental car vary quite a bit depending on the car, you should be able to rent a car from €5-10,- a day.
